Tee Washington
I have 2 kicker L5 12's dual 2 ohms that came in a factory kicker ported box laying around,im gonna try it out on my rockford 1500bd @ 2ohms later this week, how do you think they would sound in a Dodge Mag..The amp is 1000 watts @2ohms but the sub are 600 a piece
Tim Lam
they'll sound great. i know kicker does make decent subs and RF makes great amps. those L5's will love the extra CLEAN power. just don't clip and you can run those all day long. Chris Hammer
The kicker factory ported box will not sound nearly as good as a a custom built enclosure. You should give it a go and try building a ported box tuned lower than the kicker boxes. They are nothing compared to a custom built box. Not hating on Kicker...theyre subs are OK...overpriced but if you get a good deal worth it.... But IHMO kciker boxes=crap Ask on here...someone like 412cvx Im sure can post a sketchup of a optimal box for them on that power. Chris Hammer
Heres a link to a box for a single L5. Did a quick search on here and found it..Looks pretty good. You could make the exact same thing mirrored on the opposite side and double the baffle etc so you have a dual slot port box... http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/88590-kicker-l5-box/ Edited August 7, 2012 by Chris Hammer Quote MY BUILD *****http://tinyurl.com/gmcbuild***** Vehicles 2005 GMC Canyon CB1000r - Currently where any future funds are going. Tee Washington
Chris how are those proboxes
Chris Hammer
Chris how are those proboxes As a general rule i stay away from prefab. But if you really want one from them..find out what the specs are. Cubic feet/ port length/ port area/single or double baffle etc. Email them or call them. Than post the specs up here and we can tell you if its worth your trouble. What box exactly are you looking at that they make..Im on their website. Where are you located?...you can try and find a member in your area or a friend..thats good with wood(haha) and have them build it. Get the plans from here and have them build to to match. Chris Hammer
Just from pics their ports all look like they dont have enough area. Im sure a member on here has used one at some point maybe they could chime in. Tim Lam
those Kicker L series love GIANT ports. i would even dare to say go with a 6" aeroport or a 4"wide slot port.
