Speaker Size Choice

In the next couple weeks Im gonna be ordering my subs and I was wanting to know what would be louder 1 18 or 2 15s. I only have room for my box to be 17x42x27 so like 9 cu ft.... Im going with FI bls fully loaded

Someone on here has a 1990 something Explorer with one FI Q 3kw in a 9 cube box doing 145's on music. (With Sound insulation.)

Look at your options you have to think what you want out of them.

18" will hit the I-can't-breathe Bass. While 2 15"s have more cone area and will show a nominal increase in SPL over the 18" but unless in the right type of box won't be able to go Ultra-Low.

I would rather take the 2 15"s unless you were going with 2 18"s. I have 2 12" CVR's as a temp setup right now in a 6.5 cubic foot box ported to 30hz and i slam the lows just as good as 18"s. I dont get nearly as loud and move as much air as them but the box design and amp tuneing will more determine if your box sounds higher or lower.
