mikelbolton
Today was a busy day, and involved several projects. Made a wager with the gf, that I could have her old clutch cylinder off, and replaced within 30 min. This was on her '79 MG B. Succeeded!!! Also sprayed a replacement door handle for mom's car today. Turned out pretty decent. Back to the Aveo. Moved the system out of the way, and got back to sound deadening. Sprayed foam in the openings of the body panels in the hatch. Got tired of looking at the dent in the passenger door. I took the door panels off today, and pushed a good deal of the dent out. Nevermind the car, she's dirty right now. I'll eventually have the money for the insurance deductible and get it fixed. Got a few more goodies to come, big 3 will be done shortly. Here's a pic of the replacement panels I'm working on for the rear speakers. Still trying to work out the dimensions for what I can put back there. Currently have some Pioneer 6X9s, but may just hold off until I come up with something else. 2011 Chevrolet Aveo(click for build log)Clarion NX-603SKAR 4500.1DIraggi 320A alt Knukonceptz 1/0 Kollosus Fleks Cable8 AWG Sky High Car Audio OFC 1/0- Sky High Car Audio 2- XP3000 XS Power BatteriesSMD VM-12- 12" Ascendant Audio Mayhems Toolmaker Fuse block Toolmaker Bus Bars (Last Season scores 1-15" Mayhem) 145.2 dB- Sealed @ NSPL World Finals (9/28/14) 148.1 dB- Hardcore @ NSPL World Finals (9/27/14) 150.23-- Hardcore on 4500 Watts!!!! mikelbolton
I was going to do the Big 3 today, since the terminals came in. Eventually, ran out of light and it started sprinkling... Maybe I'll finish tomorrow. What I did find interesting, is that the alternator on the Aveo looks astonishingly close to that of a Silverado or Tahoe. They also share the same 2-pin wiring harness connection. Here are the pics of the Aveo (95A) alternator. Compare those to these pics I'm borrowing from DC Power. These are for a 1996-2006 Silverado (amongst several other models) I know that the case isn't exactly the same, but I should have the necessary clearance to mount this. I measured out the flanges on my uncle's '02 Silverado, and seems like it will bolt up. I may try and swap his on, just to see if it fits... If so, there may be another option for Aveo owners;-) I got one of the wires done for the big 3, but got distracted as you can see. I will try and finish her up tomorrow, and get some new pics. Edit: after posting, I realize that there is a difference in the mounting flange. I will have to sit back down and remember why it was that I still thought this will work. I'll revisit this tomorrow....To Be Continued 2011 Chevrolet Aveo(click for build log)Clarion NX-603SKAR 4500.1DIraggi 320A alt Knukonceptz 1/0 Kollosus Fleks Cable8 AWG Sky High Car Audio OFC 1/0- Sky High Car Audio 2- XP3000 XS Power BatteriesSMD VM-12- 12" Ascendant Audio Mayhems Toolmaker Fuse block Toolmaker Bus Bars (Last Season scores 1-15" Mayhem) 145.2 dB- Sealed @ NSPL World Finals (9/28/14) 148.1 dB- Hardcore @ NSPL World Finals (9/27/14) 150.23-- Hardcore on 4500 Watts!!!! mikelbolton
I realize I have been a bit slack on the updates, but December has been crazy... Here's a few pics to make up for slacking... That's right, the Aveo now has the Big 3 completed. Couldn't quite get a pic of the wire running to the back of the alt, but you can see it at the positive terminal. The silver 1/0 wire is the batt to chassis ground. Then the last pic is the alt grounded back to the chassis. 2011 Chevrolet Aveo(click for build log)Clarion NX-603SKAR 4500.1DIraggi 320A alt Knukonceptz 1/0 Kollosus Fleks Cable8 AWG Sky High Car Audio OFC 1/0- Sky High Car Audio 2- XP3000 XS Power BatteriesSMD VM-12- 12" Ascendant Audio Mayhems Toolmaker Fuse block Toolmaker Bus Bars (Last Season scores 1-15" Mayhem) 145.2 dB- Sealed @ NSPL World Finals (9/28/14) 148.1 dB- Hardcore @ NSPL World Finals (9/27/14) 150.23-- Hardcore on 4500 Watts!!!! mikelbolton
Got some new things coming in sometime next week hopefully. I'll be getting a nice Craftsman Professional True RMS clamp meter I imagine that I'll probably hear it from the g/f for awhile... I also have another goody on the way. Any guesses?!? 2011 Chevrolet Aveo(click for build log)Clarion NX-603SKAR 4500.1DIraggi 320A alt Knukonceptz 1/0 Kollosus Fleks Cable8 AWG Sky High Car Audio OFC 1/0- Sky High Car Audio 2- XP3000 XS Power BatteriesSMD VM-12- 12" Ascendant Audio Mayhems Toolmaker Fuse block Toolmaker Bus Bars (Last Season scores 1-15" Mayhem) 145.2 dB- Sealed @ NSPL World Finals (9/28/14) 148.1 dB- Hardcore @ NSPL World Finals (9/27/14) 150.23-- Hardcore on 4500 Watts!!!! mikelbolton
No guesses?!? Well, I didn't hear as much from the g/f as I thought I would. I have ordered a Hifonics GLX60.4 for my mids/highs. I couldn't help myself, Sonic Electronix put it on sale and it matches the other amp for now... Now just waiting for a shipping confirmation. I was almost tempted to order a set of Rockford Components to replace the crappy Q-Powers in there now... Figured that might be the straw that broke the camel's back though... In time According to UPS, my clamp meter should be here by Thursday! Now, hopefully everything will get done by next weekend, but no guarantees... In the mean time, I may try and get another vid or two done... I can definitely tell that the Big 3 has helped with my voltage drop. 2011 Chevrolet Aveo(click for build log)Clarion NX-603SKAR 4500.1DIraggi 320A alt Knukonceptz 1/0 Kollosus Fleks Cable8 AWG Sky High Car Audio OFC 1/0- Sky High Car Audio 2- XP3000 XS Power BatteriesSMD VM-12- 12" Ascendant Audio Mayhems Toolmaker Fuse block Toolmaker Bus Bars (Last Season scores 1-15" Mayhem) 145.2 dB- Sealed @ NSPL World Finals (9/28/14) 148.1 dB- Hardcore @ NSPL World Finals (9/27/14) 150.23-- Hardcore on 4500 Watts!!!! mikelbolton
UPS just made my day... It even comes with a nice little carrying case, and temp probe. Now, I just gotta clamp the system, and see where we're at. 2011 Chevrolet Aveo(click for build log)Clarion NX-603SKAR 4500.1DIraggi 320A alt Knukonceptz 1/0 Kollosus Fleks Cable8 AWG Sky High Car Audio OFC 1/0- Sky High Car Audio 2- XP3000 XS Power BatteriesSMD VM-12- 12" Ascendant Audio Mayhems Toolmaker Fuse block Toolmaker Bus Bars (Last Season scores 1-15" Mayhem) 145.2 dB- Sealed @ NSPL World Finals (9/28/14) 148.1 dB- Hardcore @ NSPL World Finals (9/27/14) 150.23-- Hardcore on 4500 Watts!!!!
