ILLEGAL REGAL Posted August 25, 2012 Report Posted August 25, 2012 Looking to do a system on my harley and here's what I'm looking at For the saddle bags bag lids that hold 2- 6x9's in the bag another set of 6x9's facing the wheel and an 8" driver up the front a 5.25" coaxial I'm thinking of using a JL xd series amp for the rear because of limited space and specs of that line sound perfect for a motorcycle. Then for the front speakers using a RF pbr 2 channel amp, that amp and 5.25's will always stay on the bike even if the bags are removed so an amp in the bags wont work for me to run the 5.25's. All ran from ipod I need advice on the speakers, what will be loud/clear and not break the bank? Are there any other amps out there that are similar to the jl xd lineup that would be a better option? Thinking hertz 5.25's for the front Would a sound processor or eq be a worthy addition, and which? It will only be used for the 8's and 3 sets of 6x9's
Ray Posted August 25, 2012 Report Posted August 25, 2012 Hcx 130 up front Hcx690 in the rear Hertz hdp4 running it Do you have a local shop doing the work? 2008 California state record holder 157.2 Bassrace2009 California state record holder 157.0 BassraceRollin 50's 158.7db2009 King of Cali Bassrace2009 USACi score 160.5 @ 42hz
ILLEGAL REGAL Posted August 25, 2012 Author Report Posted August 25, 2012 I'll have a local shop cut the bags for 6x9's and 8's, thats all that wont be done by myself
ILLEGAL REGAL Posted August 25, 2012 Author Report Posted August 25, 2012 you suggest a 4 channel amp to run 3 sets of 6x9's and a pair of 8" drivers? those hcx 690's are nice but I cant justify $300/pair, with the 8's I'd be like $1400 in rear speakers alone
ILLEGAL REGAL Posted August 25, 2012 Author Report Posted August 25, 2012 after looking at the tweeter design of the hertz hcx130 I dont think they'll work with the grills for the mounting pods, the audison avx5 looks like maybe a better fit with a simple center round tweeter
Ian Rowbottom Posted August 25, 2012 Report Posted August 25, 2012 throw some 15's on the back of that biznitch. call it a day. heh. Just jokez. I love the sound of cdtaudio's speakers. You could try out a set of CL-5EX's in the front with some HD-690CFX in the back They also have some decent 6x9 "subwoofers" and a pretty good looking 8"
ILLEGAL REGAL Posted August 25, 2012 Author Report Posted August 25, 2012 Those cdt's are impressive after a little research and pricing is good! Who's got the best prices?
Ray Posted August 25, 2012 Report Posted August 25, 2012 Hcx690's are 600 a pair. If you have any doubt about using HCX on your bike just open up any bagger or touring bike magazine. Notice a trend on what is being used? 2008 California state record holder 157.2 Bassrace2009 California state record holder 157.0 BassraceRollin 50's 158.7db2009 King of Cali Bassrace2009 USACi score 160.5 @ 42hz

ILLEGAL REGAL Posted August 27, 2012 Author Report Posted August 27, 2012 Ok guys I think I've got it narrowed down... In the bags I'll be running 3-sets of cdt 6x9 coaxials and 1-pair of cdt 8" mid bass drivers at 2ohm of an American bass Ph 4100 fr4. Up front a pair of cdt 5.25" convertibles at 4ohm off a massive audio nx2, if that amp won't fit I'll use the rf pbr300x2 Ran off an iPod using an iSimple plug(not headphone jack) to a PAC-lc1 to use as a remote volume. Do I need a line booster? I think this system should rock!
