Port Area VS Low Tuning

TRTC360

Recommended Posts

It has been explained several times. Should be able to search.

Port area is based on Sd, Xmax, and tuning frequency (one the true definition is velocity of the air traveling through the port).

The problem with the funny results people see in the car audio world is that most car boxes do not have enough port area, so the port is not acting as it really should.

As far as getting away from a peaky response, there is no set rules; you have to look at the sub and vehicle to determine what will happen. Different subs will respond different in the same vehicle, and the same sub/box will respond differently in different vehicles. . .

Current system:

1997 Blazer - (4) Customer Fi NEO subs with (8) American Bass Elite 2800.1s

Previous systems:

2000 Suburban - (4) BTL 15's and (4) IA 40.1's = 157.7 dB at 37 Hz.

1992 Astro Van - (6) BTL 15's and (6) IA 40.1's = 159.7 dB at 43 Hz.
