jbiddle.com Posted September 3, 2012 Report Posted September 3, 2012 i am wanting to build a very musical 6th order bandpass i am hoping to get a flat responce from 28 to about 65 hz is this possible to get?? i am new to 6th order enclosures and was wondering if anyone could give me tips or hints on building one. the sub i will be using is boston acoustic spg555-2 i will be running it on the boston acoustic gr-2300 on 1400 rms. so any help or hints would be greatly appreciated. i really dont even know where to start Head Unit -- Alpine CDA-9887 Mids and highs -- 2 Crescendo PWX-8's 4 Crescendo PWX-6's 4 Crescendo FT-1 Super tweeters Mids and Highs amps -- 2 Alpine V12 MRV-F545 Subs -- TBD Sub amp -- Crescendo Bass Cleff BC2000. 412 CVX Posted September 3, 2012 Report Posted September 3, 2012 6th orders don't tend to be very "flat", but in my experience they can have excellent range and are VERY efficient when done correctly. They're my absolute favorite kind of box. Only downside is that they take up a TON of room. I built one for a pair of 8's (second link in my sig) and love it. Just say no to Ground Pounder Customs. My temp system build log More box buildssome cars do over 170db with one sub, so clearly my two 12"s can do that in my car, with my knowledge too! look out bitches! I'm with captain stupid.

412 CVX Posted September 3, 2012 Report Posted September 3, 2012 for a good response from 28-65 hz, tune the rear to about 30-32hz and the front port tuned to 60-62 hz respectively. shoot for at least a 1:2 ratio. I don't know about the passive radiator idea. The rear chamber in a 4th or 6th order is about controlling the cone. that's why the rear chamber of a 6th order has less port area than a standard ported box. that's what i'm skeptical about on the whole passive radiator idea. I'm not sure how well a passive radiator would translate into port area. Just say no to Ground Pounder Customs.
