Avery Howell Posted September 18, 2012 Report Posted September 18, 2012 I have a small test bench setup right now consisting of a marine deep cycle (or cell?) battery, a 5 amp battery charger/tender (getting an XS one soon!!) and a 7" fold out single din with an inline fuse built into the single din's power wire. Works perfect for that. BUT, I want to test out my new amp because without putting it into a car and its a 2400 watt rms amp and has no internal fusing. I would assume it will drain that battery FAST and that I would be stupid to even light it up without fusing between the amp and battery. I don't have any fuses laying around so I'm assuming the best idea would be to wait until I get my Jeep back before I do anything. Any suggestions? skittlesRgood Posted September 20, 2012 Report Posted September 20, 2012 the idea would be to test the amp for functionality, not a stress test, correct? the battery will be fine for getting a little sound out of the amp, not full tilt obviously and you wouldnt need to do that. the fuse will protect against over current. again, not something you need to worry about unless you hook up the amp backwards. now if you just want to test that the amp gives out power without using a load (a speaker) then you can use a DMM and even turn the amp all the way up. it wont consume much power at all this way. that should be enough to get you started. have fun. If I answered you in a well mannered, informative way, you asked a good question or had a good attitude. If I was an asshole, you asked a stupid question or you had a fucktard attitude... or I was in a bad mood.
