Anyways, so sometimes my regulator likes to assume my alt doesn't need to charge my batteries anymore, so I'll be cruisin goin 70 down the freeway bumpin and all a sudden my voltage read out is between 12.4-12.7 depending on If bass is hitting or not. But when it is charging and I'm going 70 I'll drop from 13.9 to 13.7 at the lowest. Any ideas how to keep my alt from doing that? Also. If my headlights or a/c is on it won't EVER drop and wont stop charging. Vote for October SOTM. Wicks Posted September 19, 2012 Report Share Posted September 19, 2012 Using your stock control wires to the alt, I assume? Sounds like your CPU is turning off the alt to save gas mileage. Using accessories (lights /AC) will keep it on as they drain the battery much faster. Google "bypass alternator PCM" and your car make/model. Depending on the type of system used, you may have your battery light on your dash light up. Hard to tell without schematics and more detail on how your specific system works which is hard to get on some cars. My last alt I ordered was having some regulator Issa and everytime it stopped charging my whole dash would light up untill it kicked on. But that was the actual alt itself. Not so much the regulator I believe. Would I experience the same thing possibly'if I installed one of those? Vote for October SOTM.
