94jettameowpsst Posted October 9, 2012 Report Posted October 9, 2012 Whats up! Ive only posted here a few times as my old setup i have is 2 kicker l7 15s in a jeep xj. Well I've learned my lesson about kicker and want to buy some real equipment *(kind of on a budget). I have a LOT of 0 gauge wire, 4 optima yellow's, lots of fuses, decent pioneer indash monitor and 4 sheets of mdf already and am looking at a 390 alt or something equivelent. Problem im having is what kind of subs/amps i should actually use. Now i was considering going with 2 18's of some sort or possibly 4 sa 15s however im not sure what type of power these things actually will take or if I want a wall or not. The back of an xj isnt big by any means unless the seats are out and from searching i've seen boxes netting 16cu/ft for 18s or even the same for 15s. What im saying is space isnt really an issue as long as i have room for batteries without cutting sh!t apart. Im probably going to be pushing roughly 4500-6500w to whatever i buy but if anyone has some reccomendations before I make a purchase it'd be appreciated as the only experience i have with sundown are 2 sa8v2's i bought for my girlfriend with sound awesome. Any imput on Fi, the BL model in particular? Or the sa 18? I mean obviously the nightshade is going to be the best bang, but not so much on the buck part. Thanks in advance, LJ Edit. Oh and the amp I currently have is an alpine mrp2000 which puts out roughly 2400-2500w rms @ 14v (dmm tested) Was looking to get another but not sure. 150.1 @ 38hz142.3 @ 20hz (windows down)Only 2 batteries
94jettameowpsst Posted October 9, 2012 Author Report Posted October 9, 2012 Ohhh and after searching a bit, seeing "VS" threads being locked, this legit isnt a vs thread. I've had 12's and these kickers i own are my first set of 15s so i have nothing to comare anything to! 150.1 @ 38hz142.3 @ 20hz (windows down)Only 2 batteries
WastedTalent Posted October 9, 2012 Report Posted October 9, 2012 I'm not sure but I don't think you'll really get a direct specific answer... as everything you've listed is pretty damn good. I mean no complaints against Fi, Sundown, etc etc. So as for "You should roll with these"... don't think that'll happen, although I could be wrong. My advice is your setup will be different, will sound different. You can get whatever you choose and it sound bad compared to someone else's who has the exact same setup. I know that's not really an answer you wanted but that's typically how these type of questions get answered. Sheena = pedobear

I have just heard reliability issues about Fi, and as for sundown, being the only other brand i listed, i DO know they are severely underrated and in my experience have had great CS with them. It just sucks because I literally dont know anybody running sundown subs in my area besides myself and i've never heard 18s in person so I wanted to check on here before i spend the money like i DIDNT do when i bought my kickers (i could have bought 18s for the same price) 150.1 @ 38hz142.3 @ 20hz (windows down)Only 2 batteries
