Buddies for basically free.. they're just dirty as shit on the inside and cloudy on the outside of the wheels, I was thinking just sand them down with like 200 grit then move up to 500 or so, then alum brightener, polish. What do yall think/recommend? Redremedy Posted October 16, 2012 Report Posted October 16, 2012 Wish I still had a picture of the whole wheel done, but as josueh said wet-sanding works well. I mainly used 2k grit, and 1k grit in the corners I couldn't really get into. I used the water from my car wash bucket(wasn't really dirty water), was VERY mildly soapy(like if you mixed the water up you would get a bubble ring but nothing major). You will want to keep your paper wet, so as you go keep dipping it in your water. I didn't have to apply a lot of pressure when doing mine, so start light and apply more pressure if you need to. Then a coat of metal polish(I used mothers), then a coat of wax. Took about a week off and on to do all four by hand, they came out pretty nice. This was the first set of wheels I have done, so I am not claiming to be an expert. I am only sharing my experience with the subject. The picture doesn't really show just how shiny they are(and I don't have them anymore), but they cleaned up well and looked really good in the sun. All in all, I would say it was pretty easy process. @ reg - Do you have a picture of said wheels?
