94jettameowpsst Posted October 17, 2012 Report Posted October 17, 2012 Quick question, I've seen people running a few runs if wire back to their batteries from the front of the car, my question is what's the point or at what point should you run more than 1 power wire back from the front if you have multiple batteries?? I know 1 0g wire can only flow so much voltage but I thought it was a LOT more than the voltage a car alt can put out. Any helps appreciated. 150.1 @ 38hz142.3 @ 20hz (windows down)Only 2 batteries
WastedTalent Posted October 17, 2012 Report Posted October 17, 2012 No, some alts can put out more current than 1/0 wire can handle... because with length, the wire can carry less current. That's why 1 run from alt to front battery is fine (unless you have like 8 alts haha). But if your alt is putting out 320 amps, it's best to do 2 runs to the back because that's most likely past the wire's limit. Depends on the alt. Stock alt? You'd be fine. Multiple alts or a h/o alt? I'd recommend 2 runs to the back minimum (depends what setup you have for your alts) Sheena = pedobear
super slap 405 Posted October 17, 2012 Report Posted October 17, 2012 some people run a ground from there back battery to front some ground on chassis also some run extra runs to alternators there are alot of reasons to have more then one run just depends on how much power an what your looking to get out of your system

I would think it'd be fine to do 1 run... as long as you grounded everything right and used proper fuses. I don't believe any 1/0 would drop to around 200 amps in a normal typical front to back run. Yeah I'm not sure on power yet, 4500d for subs, 400.4 for mids and POSSIBLY 2000.1 for mid bass sa 8s haha but that's probably pushing it w a 200a alt. it's nothing crazy but I want loud and windy so I think I'm headed the right direction 150.1 @ 38hz142.3 @ 20hz (windows down)Only 2 batteries

Sure, they're both gas, but use 1 type. So if your optima battery is lead (I'm tired, don't wanna look up what type it is) or acid or whatever the hell... I wouldn't use it with a d3100. That's just problems. I'd switch to AGM batteries. Sheena = pedobear

If I remember right, others are using yellow tops with xs power batts. So should be fine, but again, not that experienced in the whole battery department. Sheena = pedobear
