Excursion

Recommended Posts

this is a repost from only like 2 weeks ago

but I think its just a guy who has love for the hobby, and alot of extra speakers laying around, and scavenging parts and re assembling them

the way you get so much allowable excursion like that is using cones for spiders as well, heres one I made about 4 years ago

The spider is really just a second cone, with a hi xmax surround, same as the top cone, but a 12"

the VC /motor combo have about 4" xmax capability, and with the cones assembled like that, they get the full ability with no restrictions like a spider

only draw back is, the FS is so low, its best as a home theater sub

I have a ritual called "terminator". I crouch in the shower in the "naked terminator" pose. With eyes closed I crouch for a minute and visualize either Arnie or the guy from the 2nd movie. I then start to hum the T2 theme. Slowly I rise to a standing position and open my eyes. It helps me get through my day. The only problem is if the shower curtain sticks to my terminator leg. It sorta ruins the fantasy.

It looks like they took 2 separate surrounds and glued them together. I dont think any subs regulat spider would allow that much excursion. I would think they would need a special type of spider to move like that.

like I said...the parts are from other subs but the suspension is their own design.

I'm not sure how linear the excursion is though
