ibf150
Been lurking on the forum for about a week or so since I'm about to undertake the fiberglass door panel build in my F150. I'm new to the whole world of sound so please bear with me and I'm open to constructive criticism.A little about the truck, 2005 F150 XLT 4x4 bought it stock 03/2011 been at it ever since.6" Rough Country Suspension w/ 6" Bilstein struts, 22x11" Machined XD Diesel Wheels -25mm offset, 325/50r22 Trail Grapplers, Edge Evolution, 5% Tint, Pioneer AVH-4300DVD, Custom black/grey red stitched leather seats, Smittybilt Light bar with 4 6" offroad lights, N-fab Step Bars, custom Q45 projector retrofit with Flashtech colorshift halos. ibf150
Enough of my boring stuff, lets get into the sound: Try not to laugh at me but,I started out with 2 10" Rockford Fosgates R2D4-10s in an underseat box and it was the coolest thing around for about a month now I want more so here comes the MORE Phase 1 Build a center console with 4 FOUR RE Audio SRX10-D2 I really wanted to do a ported box originally but space constraints and all that it has ended up sealed, they will be getting 1200 watts RMS from a Hifonics Brutus @ 1 ohm. Here are some shots of the subwoofers My Build Thread 2005 F150 : 2005 F150 Center Console Build Center Console - 3.2 cubes @ 35hz 4 RE Audio SRX10s - Pure Audio 3000.1 8 6.5 Soundstream SME.658 - Soundstream TN4.900D 4 NX-5 Super Tweeters
ibf150
Excuse the mess in the truck but here is the beginning of the build: Cardboard template every shop I spoke to about building the console wanted to build it out of 1/2" and wanted north of $1000 to build me a plain box. Recruited a friend that knows a little more than me and we decided to build it out of 3/4" mdf, just in case I ever figure out this audio business out and decide to put some big boy speakers in it. ibf150
Just attached the baffle to the console today, ordered the leather to cover it thursday. Next is to put foam on it for a little cushion and wrap it. ibf150
That hole on the top of the console, most important part of it all. That will house the cupholder area from a Chevy 1500. I was told the REs I picked up are surprisingly loud both by the distributor and a member on the F150 forums that owns 2. That's about it for the center console which brings me to this, what the hell am I gonna do with all those Mids... Door panels of course Through my research I have been able to find a couple of different set ups but nowhere near as many as the chevy trucks have. I'm still trying to finalize my design that I'm going to go with. I like to do things myself and figuring things out so just like I built my headlights without knowing what I was doing and got the console going without knowing what I was doing, I intend to figure out the door panel situation. I've been reading up on doing fiberglass and watched Steve Meade's door panel build on youtube (he makes it look like a walk in the park, but after doing my research I know that wont be the case). These are some examples of the panels I've been able to find: (I'm for sure not putting TVs in my door panels) As of right now my design is looking like a blend of the 1st and 2nd door panels, 4 of the 6.5s on each front door plus some sort of tweeter set up and 2 8" mids on each back door. Any input would be appreciated and is encouraged My Build Thread 2005 F150 : 2005 F150 Center Console Build Center Console - 3.2 cubes @ 35hz 4 RE Audio SRX10s - Pure Audio 3000.1 8 6.5 Soundstream SME.658 - Soundstream TN4.900D 4 NX-5 Super Tweeters
