Focus Acoustics Volvo S70 from Finland

Recommended Posts

Hello everybody and greetings from Finland! :)

So... I decided to introduce my project car here to get some feedback and maybe some good tips.

There car has made for compete in finnish SPL competition named MaxBoom. Maxboom got a lot of different classes. Class depends on average power from amp. Got classes from 250W up to 9kW. Also the style of building affects to the class. Wall setups and trunk setups compete in different classes.

Measuring is done as a 16 second average (for frequencies 35-56 by 3hz steps) and the "song" is the same for everyone, the official MaxBOOM track. (example;

)

Well. About the car. My english is kinda limited so I'll let the pics and vids to do the talking.

These pics are from the last season when the setup was;

-HU: Some crappy Sony MP3

-Subs: 2x12" Focus Acoustics Black SPL

-Amp: Focus FX-1500D (wired @ 0.5ohms = 1500W maxboom class power)

-Batt: 2x75 Optima Yellowtop

-Front end: 6x6½" Focus BK mids + 2x Planet audio PLT80 tweeter + Cerwin Vega Stroker 800.4

Only one 6" aeroport didn't work as good as I assumed ( but I did 143.7dB 16sec average and won the Stock 1500W @ newbies class). Then I moved on to PRO-class.

The box is tuned @ 37hz and it does peak @ 41hz.

At Finals I did 146.3dB 16sec average (peaked 148dB @ 41hz) and I came in second place. Winner did 146.8dB.

Also at the marathon run (3mins same 35hz-56hz song) I did 145.7dB and came also in second place.

That was the story of the past season. Nowdays Im planning a bit bigger setup. But just a bit..

-Pioneer DEH-80PRS (installed)

-2*3000D Focus amps (already got one)

-3*12" Focus SPL Black subs (installed)

-more batteries

Tried out new 3000D amp with two twelves, did 149.9dB @ 41hz.

So I bought one more Black SPL 12". Did recone all of the three subs.

And now that I have just one 3000D amp it's wired @ 1.33ohms. This will be the next seasons competion setup (1*3000D @ 1.33ohm = 1450W class pwr).

Next upgrade would be another 3000D amp and more batteries (should be enough power for three twelves with two 3000D amps wired @ 0,66ohm per amp, when playing on the streets) ;)

Comments? Anything? (:
