Migz Posted November 26, 2012 Report Posted November 26, 2012 I've been trying to measure my bass amplifier output using my DMM, i know to get an accurate reading i also need a clamp meter but i just want a rough idea. I've got this DMM near enough. So i put it on AC which if im correct is the V~ settings just to the right of "OFF" I put my headunit up to where i think is about right, put a test tone of 40Hz on. Then i put my positive probe to the positive speaker terminal on my amplifier and the negative prove to the negative speaker terminal on my amplifier. It just comes up saying "1", but it says this on the digit all the way on the left of the screen, rather then the right. I've also noticed that when my headunit is between 0-10 it comes up with several thousand(Starts off in the hundreds but rises to several thousand as i go up), but sometime after 10 it just goes to 1 and sticks there. I've tried both settings under V~, i just don't know if its something im doing or if its because of my cheap DMM?

I assume so, i have the negative probe in the bottom (COM) and the positive probe in the middle as it says VAC on that one, im sure VAC stands for Voltage AC. I did try moving the probes to different terminals still using the AC setting but still nothing. Edit: Yeah don't worry, its on speaker terminals + and - not amplifier. Will ammend my first post
