If i can find someone to do the big 3 on my car for cheap i will def do that. But if i cant, then i will get maybe like a D2400 or 3100 up front for my T1500, and a D680 for the T600-4. Jessica Posted December 23, 2012 Report Posted December 23, 2012 I think the point Mike was making is, you may not need a 250amp alternator if your amplifier draws 250 amps. Because you have battery reserve. I have not seen a single build on here where there is substantial current draw that did not have multiple batteries even with large or multiple alternators. You don't want to rely solely on your alternator for your power. I mean, if you have a high output alternator and a lawn mower battery you have issues. Like i said, musically you might see high current draws here and there, maybe even for two or 3 seconds. But unless you listen to constant tones at full tilt for long periods you should be ok. You just have to use some common sense. That's why i say, get a volt meter, a couple good batteries, Big 3, and keep an eye on your voltage. If you are having issues, then you may have to upgrade your alt with a universal fit, or make a bracket and try to squeeze in something. In short, it's okay to have a mid level alt or not even have enough alt for your power needs, just back it it up with battery reserve. Also, Talk to mechman or Singer about a universal fit, or maybe a different body alt using a custom bracket. I think they don't volunteer that fact for liability issues. Definitely do it, definitely 0 ga. 150 amps for a stock alt is impressive.
