Alt Size?

Recommended Posts

Hey,

Here is my situation. I have the list of alts from Dom!

180 $399

200 $419

220 $519

240 $539

260 $559

280 $579

300 $599

I was thinking the 260.. But would saving 40 more dollars and getting the 300 be worth it?

I was also wondering, I have heard people say to get 2 smaller alts rather that 1 big alt .. Dom has no dual brackets so, what is wrong with havein 1 big alt?

So what would you guys recommend?

Thanks,

Eric speer

if that was me, and i was to keep that vehichle for quite some time.... ill def. go with the biggest alt i could find for the vehichle man, couldnt hurt having more power. plus if someday u decide to go with a bigger system *which almost every1 does*, just get the biggest alt u can find right now instead of having to replace a smaller alt later on.

and remember to do the big3 while ur at it man ;)

yeh the bigger alternator always get the plus but the downfall of having one is the idle amps it puts out. it already sucks that you can't get a dual alt bracket kit for your truck (keep searching). so if you want that idle power than go smaller than a 300 but if not then 300 it is.

2-DC 15XLM2 D.7s

1-DC 5K amp

(1) XS Power D6500(UNDERHOOD) and (1) XS3000(REAR)

3 runs 1/0ga for power and 2 runs of 1/0ga for negative.

(2)-RFT165s components, ...... 4 separate 1 inch tweetersRF T600-2(fronts) Punch 450.4(rear)

Audiocontrol 3.1.

DC power 260amp alternator w/MLA Module

not necessarily your truck will run like shit with a 300. you just want get as many amps at idle with a 300 vs a 260. email Dom and see if he can get the idle amps for each of the alternators or hell maybe someone on here can tell you. but even Mr Meade himself will tell you the bigger the alternator the lower the idle amps. i think a 240 or 260 would do fine with 3000 rms
