Carbon
Hey guys, Looking for opinions on Soundstream subs. They dont seem to pricy at $350 a pop. I know from experience that SS underrates their amps. I have never had any of their subs though. EXO on YouTube had XXX 18s in his old van and they seemed decent. Obviously these are not XXXs. http://www.soundstream.com/AudioProducts/Subwoofers/splx.htm SPLX-122HF SPLX-152HF Fs (hz) 40.32 35.96 Qms 6.348 6.476 Vas (ft³) 0.936 87.56 Cms (mm/n) 0.072 0.0794 Mms (g) 218.0 247.1 Xmax (mm) 13.00 13.00 Xmech (mm) 19.50 19.50 Piston Diameter (in) 10.04 13.19 Sd (in²) 79.16 136.6 Qes 0.453 0.503 Re (Ω) 2.92 2.95 Z (Ω) 4 4 BL (Gauss) 18.88 18.09 Rms Power (watts) 1,000 1,250 Qts 0.423 0.467 NO (%) 0.37 0.78 1w/1m SPL (dB) 87.70 90.95 Voice Coil Diameter (in) 3" 3" Impedance (Ω) DVC 2Ω DVC 2Ω M-vd (ft³) 0.188 0.298 Measurements (in) SPLX-122HF SPLX-152HF Overall Diameter 12.625 15.25 Overall Height 8.125 9.25 Mounting Depth 7 8.375 Cutout Diameter 11 14.125 Motor Diameter 7.75 7.875 Motor Height 3.5 3.5 Flange Width 0.875 0.75 Flange Height 0.75 0.625 Weight (lb) 34 35 Not a VS Thread! Nate Futuristic
For a 1000rms sub (ok even if its 1500rms underrated) for 350 I'd much rather invest in a fi bl.... ...... Or a ssd which is 100 less and rated for 1k. down rpping vanderbilt. 30 miles from victoria. i own the 3rd loudest setup here out of 3. but i did put together all 3 setups ^^ Cant wait to swalllow Ghost's babies
8ight
Just looking at the specs they seem to be able to do what they are advertised to. You'll easily be able to put 2k before rise on most 3" coils if they have any kind of cooling and these are aluminum, too. The Fs on the 12s is too high for a daily application, if you asked me, but the 15 is perfectly acceptable. What are you looking to get out of these? That's actually is quite the chunk of change for subs in this power class... You could buy drivers from Fi (as mentioned), Incriminator, Sound Solutions Audio, Skar, DC Audio and a number of other reputable underground brands for about the same amount of dough. Carbon
Thanks for the inputs guys. The fi bl 15 seems like a much better choice for the coin. This seems like a good pair for my Zeus 3000.1 Should the bl 15 be able to handle it?
8ight
For that amp I would honestly go with SSDs. Even if you were getting 3k after rise which you won't be they would take it. I'm gonna hate
Carbon
It looks like the ssd has a lower rms than the bl. 15s
8ight
Yes, but the ratings aren't inflated like the ones slapped haphazardly on 90% of the off-the-shelf subs floating around online. The SSDs are rated for 1,000w RMS but will be right at home on anywhere up to 2,000 before rise. I think the BLs would want more power than your amp can provide, if you want to leave room for an upgrade they would be the way to go. Carbon
Like those 4kw sony xplodz lol Hmm. The sp4 15 looks attractive! I could deffinately afford 2 of them. I picked up the hifonics Zeus 3000d brand new for next to nothing so I am not oppose to buying a beefier amp. I might pick up an ssd 18 just to play with until I can find a good amp for some sp4s I have a fluke clamp meter so ill figure out what that Zeus really does and ill post it up. 8ight
If you got a steal on it maybe you could sell it on for a profit? Could fund the next amp, and if you're looking at high-end Fi, you will want as much power as you can buy. I'm sure she does rated or close to it at 1 ohm if you keep it fed electrically, it will just never see a 1 ohm load playing anywhere near your tuning because of box rise. Carbon
True. I think the hifi only goes for 260ish new and it would prob cost me 20+ to ship it. I'll prob just hang onto it and pair it with the ssd 18. For a little temp bass until I finish the real build. It will be we'll fed! My mechman 320 amp is comming on Friday. And I got a couple xs power 3400s
