afrakes Posted February 6, 2013 Report Posted February 6, 2013 Hey guys I'm thinking about buying a single hdc3 12 with my tax return and a used amp to go with it. The soundqubed site recommends the biggest box for a single 12 being 2.75 cubes tuned to around 40 hz. Can I go bigger? I'm thinking like 3.5 cubes tuned to 35 hz. My goal with this build is to get as low and loud a possible off a single 12 while staying in my budget of 700 bux for the sub, amp, and box materials. Any thoughts are appreciated. AMI CUSTOMS Posted February 6, 2013 Report Posted February 6, 2013 I would use aero ports and or just one big aero, tune to 36 hz for da lowz and not rob to much output on that 12. 3.5 cube is a little much depending on what kind of power you are going to throw at it. afrakes Posted February 6, 2013 Author Report Posted February 6, 2013 I have only ever used aero ports ant to be honest that was going to be my next question because I want to stick with them but haven't seen anyone ever use aeros with the hdc3. I'm planning on putting around 2k rms to the sub. Vehicle: 2014 GMC Sierra 2500HD WT Head Unit: Pioneer DEH- Mids/Highs: Focal Integration ISC 165’s (front) Subs/Amps: TBD
AMI CUSTOMS Posted February 7, 2013 Report Posted February 7, 2013 Lower the net of the box down to around 2.5 cubes with that much power. Alot of competitors use aeros on the HDC3s in smaller sized boxes, below 10 cubes, almost every box I have seen runs aeros under 5 cubes.
