I want to add another battery but don't know which one I should get I want it to hold a good 30 mins at least before dying and also is there such an indicator I can put in my dash to tell me if its about to die??
Carbon Posted February 10, 2013 Report Posted February 10, 2013 What kind of computer do you have in the car? I feel sorry for you if your running a full tower lol. You can buy a voltmeter. Also you could get a small pc like a mac mini or something that will be more power efficient. Also why do you want to use the computer with the car off? Also second third fourth etc batteries are always an option.

I have M2-ATX-HV 160w PSU, ASRock board, an SSD and a USB hard drives with 10.4" touch screen Also have alpine pdx 4.150 and 1.1000 amps with 2 JL 12" W3's That's my setup, I like music and I'm a PC Tech the CarPC can be handy yet sometimes I like to watch youtube but I don't want to keep turning on the car.
Carbon Posted February 10, 2013 Report Posted February 10, 2013 Sounds like you know what your doing. You could all a second battery with an isolator. One battery w/ voltmeter for the PC and the stock one under the hood for starting your car. Flip the switch when you want to run the battery for the pc/music with the car off. I wouldnt recommend killing it all the way because alternators hate charging up dead batteries.
b33lz89 Posted February 10, 2013 Author Report Posted February 10, 2013 thanks for the quick responses but do you know what battery should I get I'm good at connecting but I don't know what I need. I want something to last long and also if there's an indicator to tell me its running low so I can turn on the car before killing the battery. I don't plan on using the PC like that everyday it's more like once a week thing.
Carbon Posted February 10, 2013 Report Posted February 10, 2013 You could go with a simple voltmeter to monitor the battery. As for the battery itself, I would go with an AGM cell, Like XS Power. Probably a Group 31 would suit your needs if you have a place to put it. Batteries add alot of weight and take up some space if you have a small vehicle. How much power does your setup pull?
b33lz89 Posted February 10, 2013 Author Report Posted February 10, 2013 I do have a small car but I have plenty of space for the battery.. setup is around 2000 watts.. I'd hate to keep checking the battery with a voltmeter I thought there would be something I can install in the dash to monitor it.

b33lz89 Posted February 10, 2013 Author Report Posted February 10, 2013 budget is not an issue I always rather quality, i'm a lil confused tho, do I need to replace my current lead-acid bat? and get 2 AGMs... they're both going to be under the hood, nothing is going in the trunk just thought I should be clear on that
