bassfreake Posted February 14, 2013 Report Posted February 14, 2013 Yeah it's all about $$$$ round here few Honest ppl but not many it wasn't even about the money... both of the situations I mentioned as well as a few others if they had known what they were talking about they could have given me the correct answer to my question and made some money... I was ready to pay the dude like $400 or more to build my box for a single 15 in my trunk and he turned it down and said it wasn't possible to put a 15 in a trunk... and the other one about the wiring if he knew what he was talking about he could have sold me some reducers and made a few bucks but instead he told me to take some scrap wire I had lying around and a spare fuse I had lying around and connect them together and that would work just fine and be perfectly safe (was trying to get my 1/0 gauge power wire to go into the 4 gauge terminal on my amp) these people just legitimately didn't know jack shit as much about car audio as they claimed to know Thanks I was pretty excited about the alt myself. kind of like a school girl, in a dress, on a swing. lol It's warming up enough that the donut-punching cyclist douchenozzles are getting their two wheeled fagmobiles out. bassfreake Posted February 14, 2013 Report Posted February 14, 2013 lol it's all good I wound up going and dropping like $20 plus $4 to rent a few hours at the wood shop on base and built one myself which I still have for now lol I've learned alot more about box building since then though and now I'm really looking forward to building a legit box with my next set of subs once I get them. my main point though was don't just go to the car audio guys and say "here I trust you do what you do" lol take any advice they give you at face value and unless you got somebody legit doing your stuff like Steve himself or some of the other guys around here I would probably say do as much of it as you can yourself with help and advice from some of the geniuses we got around here on this forum Thanks I was pretty excited about the alt myself. kind of like a school girl, in a dress, on a swing. lol It's warming up enough that the donut-punching cyclist douchenozzles are getting their two wheeled fagmobiles out. teamace24 Posted February 14, 2013 Report Posted February 14, 2013 Your setup is starting out good with that equipment but setting the amp and box will be crucial. 1st Setup(SOLD):2007 GMC YukonPioneer Avic F90bt Audiocontrol Epicenter2 Audioque SDC2.5 15 subs8.7 cubes at 37hz build DONEAudioque 1200d (Audioque 1200d Sold, similar performance to my ap1500)Diamond Audio Hex 6.5 Mids n TweetsCerwin Vega Exl 400 4 channel Bridged(also have MTX 4004 not being used)1 Run of power Knu Fleks 4 Gauge2 Cheap stock Battery setup2nd Setup (SOLD):2007 GMC YukonPioneer Avic F90bt Audiocontrol Epicenter2 15 Kicker cvx (maybe two SA 15 in future)7 cubes net tuned at 34hzAlphasonik Old school 1600rms (ap 1500d sold GREAT Budget amp)JBL 6.5 Power Series Components, Infinity Kappa 6.5 3 ways, and 2 Kicker KS Tweets (LOUD)Cerwin vega exl4001 run knu Fleks OFC 0 gaugeBig 3 done1 Odyssey 1500, 1 optima yellow top d31
bassfreake Posted February 14, 2013 Report Posted February 14, 2013 also yes another thing I've learned from here never go with some prefab crap most of them it almost seems like the ppl making them don't have a clue what they're doing either... not to mention different subs need different size boxes different size ports and different amounts of tuning to come out just right Thanks I was pretty excited about the alt myself. kind of like a school girl, in a dress, on a swing. lol It's warming up enough that the donut-punching cyclist douchenozzles are getting their two wheeled fagmobiles out. bassfreake Posted February 14, 2013 Report Posted February 14, 2013 I don't see why not from the specs I'm seeing it might even be a little underpowered... as long as your alpines are both the same I can't really see where there would be a problem except that I don't know how you would hook a single sub up to a pair of non-strappable amps and I doubt 500w alpine amps are strappable Thanks I was pretty excited about the alt myself. kind of like a school girl, in a dress, on a swing. lol It's warming up enough that the donut-punching cyclist douchenozzles are getting their two wheeled fagmobiles out. bassfreake Posted February 14, 2013 Report Posted February 14, 2013 Also is there any particular headunit yal recomend? I been using the Jensen vm9215bt but I been thinking about putting my old pioneer back in from what I've heard pioneer is the creme de la creme of head units lol I haven't tried one yet though but I will when I do my next upgrade Thanks I was pretty excited about the alt myself. kind of like a school girl, in a dress, on a swing. lol It's warming up enough that the donut-punching cyclist douchenozzles are getting their two wheeled fagmobiles out. bassfreake Posted February 14, 2013 Report Posted February 14, 2013 yea I found out the hard way that you don't push subs to the limit right out of the box when I put some Lanzar Maxx 15s that I paid like $40 each for on a slightly less cheap but still semi cheap Audiopipe 1800w amp and immediately cranked it up high and sat in my car for like 2 hours blaring my subs and then the next day took it out somewhere to try to set gain on it and smoke started coming out of my box lol Thanks I was pretty excited about the alt myself. kind of like a school girl, in a dress, on a swing. lol It's warming up enough that the donut-punching cyclist douchenozzles are getting their two wheeled fagmobiles out.
