I found a box calculator on subwoofertools, and i was lookin and i came across the box builder.

im not sure what the lingo is even to this day, things like Qes Q Re, etc.

and im not sure about my subs displacement or any of that.

is this a good starting program for someone like me who wants to build a basic (crude) enclosure

38"wide 24" deep by 20"high

EDIT" i have no idea what the xmax is for the subs nor do i know the subs displacement. If anyone could help with that part, id greatly appreciate it

i know the displacement is .71 and the xmx is just a hair shorter then the rli 8

I think the volume is closer to .8 cu ft. and the xmax is~50mm or 2 inches.

But i ran the new numbers (.8 for displacement and 50 mm for the xmax) and my results are just rediculous

yeah you have to use the xmax as the factor that changes the port width, it isnt correct and never will be but just use the guidline of 12-16sqin per cuft

per crutchfield:

Recommended Vented Box Volume: The vented box sizes recommended by Alpine range from 0.75 cu/ft to 2.0 cu/ft. Within this range, the ideal size recommended by Alpine is 1.7 cu/ft, so this is the enclosure recommended by Crutchfield. A slot port with the following dimensions should be used with the 1.7 cu/ft enclosure: W=12", H=1.25", L=21". If you cannot use a slot port in your enclosure, you will need a port tube with the following dimensions: Diameter=3", L=9.9".
