darkjds Posted February 28, 2013 Report Posted February 28, 2013 i plan on building a box outside my car and then boltin it down to a couple of 2x4s n seal from there, the thing is i wanna go with aeroports but my question is should i go with 2 6" , 3 or 4??? i always had an issue with the port area concernin aeroports this is what i have so far: any suggestions are welcome. thank you Current Setup: , 2 Fi sp4 18s in a big ass flat wall tuned to 23hz, Pioneer 80prs, 2 Digital Designs m3bs strapped @ 2 ohms, Banda ICE2000, Crescendo 800.4, 4 PRV 10MR1000s,4 Mclaren MLT300 Super Tweeters Kinetik 2000 XS Power 2700 & XS Power 3100s.
mrd6 Posted February 28, 2013 Report Posted February 28, 2013 looks like you are planning 2 18s from box volume...you dont have nearly enough port area, double it at least. Also, when you start to need this much port area, generally lots of aero ports start to become less efficient than one big wooden port...has to do with turbulence and port surface area etc My Build Log: http://www.stevemead...-sundown-power/ Team NorthWestSPL
mrd6 Posted February 28, 2013 Report Posted February 28, 2013 more info about yourset up would be nice to make a better recommendation subs, amps, electrical, goals, etc edit: is this in a sedan? and your trying to build your wall outside the vehicle and slide it in? I would make sure your doors are big enough for that before building anything...im guessing they wont be and you'll need to either build inside the vehicle or try something else My Build Log: http://www.stevemead...-sundown-power/ Team NorthWestSPL

darkjds Posted February 28, 2013 Author Report Posted February 28, 2013 thats why im asking for help how many aeroports would i need since its not the same port area x foot as an slot.. Current Setup: , 2 Fi sp4 18s in a big ass flat wall tuned to 23hz, Pioneer 80prs, 2 Digital Designs m3bs strapped @ 2 ohms, Banda ICE2000, Crescendo 800.4, 4 PRV 10MR1000s,4 Mclaren MLT300 Super Tweeters Kinetik 2000 XS Power 2700 & XS Power 3100s.
stroupe79 Posted February 28, 2013 Report Posted February 28, 2013 try a large slot port across the top make sure to mark 3 common walls 3x37 and then adjust the length to tune http://www.stevemead...cherokee-build/ 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Alpine CDE-hd148bt Alpine PKG-RSE2 PRV Audio (4) 6MB200 front/rear doors PRV Audio (4) TW350Ti dash/rear doors Kicker KX350.4 Obsidian Audio (1) 18 D4 v2 revamp (2) Stereo Integrity HT 18d2DC Audio 1.2k5.25ft^3 tuned @34hz revamp Infinite Baffle Cpillar AudioTechnix 60mil deadenerKnuKonceptz & SkyHigh wire (complete setup)
darkjds Posted February 28, 2013 Author Report Posted February 28, 2013 thats the thing im trying to stick with aeroports i like the look of them, unless it is impossible to accomplish the amount of port area i need. Current Setup: , 2 Fi sp4 18s in a big ass flat wall tuned to 23hz, Pioneer 80prs, 2 Digital Designs m3bs strapped @ 2 ohms, Banda ICE2000, Crescendo 800.4, 4 PRV 10MR1000s,4 Mclaren MLT300 Super Tweeters Kinetik 2000 XS Power 2700 & XS Power 3100s.
stroupe79 Posted February 28, 2013 Report Posted February 28, 2013 your same dimensions with 4 6"aeros 17inches long puts you at just under 33hz tuning and 10.89cubes I only used 17" ports since they sell them in that length as a standard size http://www.parts-express.com/pe/pshowdetl.cfm?&Partnumber=268-354&scqty=4 http://www.stevemead...cherokee-build/ 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Alpine CDE-hd148bt Alpine PKG-RSE2 PRV Audio (4) 6MB200 front/rear doors PRV Audio (4) TW350Ti dash/rear doors Kicker KX350.4 Obsidian Audio (1) 18 D4 v2 revamp (2) Stereo Integrity HT 18d2DC Audio 1.2k5.25ft^3 tuned @34hz revamp Infinite Baffle Cpillar AudioTechnix 60mil deadenerKnuKonceptz & SkyHigh wire (complete setup)
mrd6 Posted February 28, 2013 Report Posted February 28, 2013 If you insist on aeros I would do 6 6" but with the flares thats going to take up alot of space...part of the problem using aeros for things like this. Or try using larger diameter pvc piping if you can find it and flare it yourself....I would shoot for around 160sq" of port at that tuning with those subs and power My Build Log: http://www.stevemead...-sundown-power/ Team NorthWestSPL
