the port is not using any existing walls of the box. its sort of like steve meades Tahoe table box for the 4 18's. the subs require 5.5 to 10 ft^3 per for a ported box so they are well within the requirements, but only require 750 watts rms which seems a little low to me. not sure what the deal is but it does not sound good at all. also if it helps the box is in a 2001 expedition.

Yes. I had them wired in series parallel to 1 ohm on a hifonics 1000.1 just to test it. They were underpowered buy a few hundred watts but still, from my experience I know it should have been louder. I tried running each sub at 2 ohm each on a hifonics 1000.1 which have them 750 rms per and it still was not loud at all. It didn't move hardly any air at all and sounds more airy than bass. I also tired covering up the port to rule it out but even then the same sound level and airy sound contiued.

pics of the box could help.

that big of a box, did you add bracing? is it single wall 3/4" mdf like torres shows?

also, pics of how its sits in the vehicle can help too.

is the box sealed at the joints? something about you saying you just cut and screwed it together, makes me think you're having major leaks.

doesn't matter if you have them wired to 1 ohm using parallel/whatever method. if a single + and - are switched, it can cause the problem you're having.

you have them wired EXACTLY like this?

I'm sure it has some leaks only being glue and screwed. It's not completely braced yet either. But could a few leaks make this big of a difference?? Just by the looks of things I feel like the box and port are too big for 2 18s but I just designed based off the requirements.
