JR2011bu
So I know this is not a super crazy build like i have seen from other cherokee's out there. But i needed something i could daily drive and still take out on the trails from time to time... So its started off simple stock cherokee which in my town is hard to find.. If your from my area you know what i mean. Then of course came time for the lift, and since I stayed in an APT all i had was a car port and some bad WA state weather. As you can in the above pic 31" tires were not going to turn without the lift so on to it. RE 3.5" Super ride w/full leaf to make it worth while. The back went up first so since i dont have much time during the week the front was stock while i drove it through out the week.. More pics to follow. Got quite a few and im still not done.. well really when is anyone done in this hobby...lol Under Construction 2011 Malibu 1LT 12k DDM Tuning HID's 55W Soundstream 6.5 components(front) Inffinitty Kappa 6x9's (rear)
JR2011bu
Next came time to do the front... And in the process of getting the front lifted i got this nice little scratch...Or as my wife said " You split your damn head open, you need to go to the hospital." that happened as i was tightening the lower control arm to the unibody on the pass side. Still had the driver side remaining..So once it was all level next came the audio portion... The pic doesn't look bad but once i cleaned it up it was about 2 1/2" long and about a 1/4" wide in the center haha.. i went to sick bay, or walk in clinic on Monday and the Provider said if i had gone in Sat when it happened 3-5 staples would have been put in haha lucky for me i just carried on with the lift haha.. JR2011bu
So i started with some door pods and after some reading and videos on YT decided to try and make some myself, needles to say it was more of a learning experience than anything haha. At first i thought i could just wrap fleece on the door itself and make them permanent, but then it hit me..... It's my first time using fiberglass lets make it something a bit more temporary haha... Mock Up.. That was before the little light bulb went off in my head, decided to remove that and make a mold of the bottom portion of the door by masking off with tape and some foil.. and then i got these started.. I know i know not the best work but hey practice makes perfect... I know the pics aren't the best but all i had was my beta up iPhone 3gs at the time.. JR2011bu
I have to look for more pics of the pods all finished up thats all i transferred to my new phone... Before i started putting in amps i decided getting POWAAAA to my system was first on my list.. 290a Tenney Alt and 6 C&D Tech UPS 75AH batts along with SHOK 1/0 throughout would be good for what i had planned... Again i have to dig for the wiring pics but i have some shots of the batt bank being set up.. I know i still had to polish up one of the buss bars but i couldn't resist the temptation of mocking them up and snapping a pic.. JR2011bu
Now seeing as my back seat had to stay in place so i could lug around all the gear the army likes to issue us, and also i needed a place for my son to sit in while on the trails..Not too mention the batt bank took up 5-6 inches from the depth of the box... I had to find out what to do as far as amp placement, i was thinking maybe mount the amps to the box but them i didn't want the vibrations to kill the amp right away. Make an amp rack and put it on the side of the box, but then it would be super visible to others and didn't want to draw so much attention in the parking lots. So false floor was what i was left with. Mind you i have no helping hands so i can't make videos simply snap some pics as i'm going along. I figured this is how my amp placement would be until i decided to change it, which is nothing new in this hobby right lol... Now i had a sturdy spot to sit the box on without compromising the amps. By the way That's a SHOK III and a SHOK 100.4 as well, I guess i should have mentioned the equipment as well huh... HU is my old JVC KD-BT1 for now Subs 2- Sundown Audio Z v.3 15" Sub Amp SHOK III Mids an Highs SKAR Audio VXi 6.5" comps on the doors (temporary) Mids & Highs amp SHOK 100.4 Wiring SHOK Industries 1/0, Big three 1+ 1- run will add more soon though have plenty of cable for it ALT Tenney Alts 290a Under Construction 2011 Malibu 1LT 12k DDM Tuning HID's 55W Soundstream 6.5 components(front) Inffinitty Kappa 6x9's (rear)
JR2011bu
Here are a few more i found of the wiring, as you can tell the previous owner had not noted that there was rust starting on the floor, well as i stripped the vehicles interior i went ahead and sanded and applied some rustolieum paint to the floor and of course the shots were not captured but here is what i have... Wish i could have taken more after it was all said and done but of course i didn't haha.. JR2011bu
On to the box, i was going to build it myself but i didn't have much time available... But one of the local guys needed some extra cash and it turns out he had plenty of time and more tools than I not to mention he builds lots of enclosures locally. So i hit him up, good friend of mine "BassMechanic253" and he got me this nice box built 6ft^3 @ 30htz Very nice enclosure and very solid too, 3/4" Birch Plywood so it was like half the weight of MDF... JR2011bu
Next on the list for the back is some beauty panels and some paint or carpet, along with fiber resin inside the box and maybe bracing... wait definitely some bracing haha.. As you saw above the pods were not so great, so attempt number two was in the works 2 Crescendo PWX 6" 1 Crescendo FT1 Super tweeter per door Round 2 All ready for some fleece and fiber glass.... Then bondo... And some kitty hair for those spots i thought might need some extra strength then some paint and lets see what they look like I have more pics floating around but its a bit late and i'm a bit drunk haha, so more to come.. But i figured since i know all of you all here enjoy pics i could do this much to start off haha.. I know i know it's no SOTM or anything but hey we all started somewhere right..
