meade916
I didn't like how "square" it was so i decided to round off the ends some to give it a cleaner look. 1 All SMD products + MORE available at my store here! https://wccaraudio.com/ Subscribe to My Youtube Channel! meade916
That was just primer ^^^ now it is time to wrap them. I put this black material in the sun for a few to make it nice and soft. Helps when forming in tight area's. This is an easy wrap but there is one tight area that i don't want to come up over time. The stock plastic trim piece needed to be shot black again since i ended up getting primer on it while working on the main body. meade916
Time to officially install the speakers themselves into the housings. The Rockford T3's are SEXYYYY. Almost every single thing i do to this car will be soldered and heat shrunk. Built to last is my motto. Say no to the bic lighter....unless it is an emergency or the heat gun is more then 10ft away and lighter is in hand LOLZ. Using the SMD IM/SG to match the kick panels to each other. Installed without screens Stealthy! this is a UBL (uninterrupted build thread)...no talk just pics... click here to leave a comment or join the public discussion! http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/166901-72-chevelle-system-fix-worst-install-by-a-shop-ever-ripped-out-new-kicks-started-41713/ thanks! meade916
Part of doing a job like this, is getting the car to a point where you have something to work off of. I got the kick panels done (obviously) but now i am in the back, trying to determine if the box can be saved. Before i can do that, i gotta pull the subs out and find out exactly how they hooked up the woofers and then run a PROPER wire for them. When done, i am going to hook his box up to my test bench and see if the tonality of the box is good. If it is OK, it will stay and i will fix it up so it works proper. If it isn't i will probably build him a new box. Ok, i was wrong....sorta. It's not 1/4" Plexi, it is closer to 3/8's, which still sucks LOL - but being that is is mounted to a 1/4" piece of MDF, it doesn't matter, it is still only as good as what it is attached to. FAIL. I will replace with a 3/4" piece. It should be sufficient for 2 P3 15's. If you can't get the woofer to fit, grind the fuck out of it! At least it was only the trim ring. Nice, double screwed for extra hold. LOL All SMD products + MORE available at my store here! https://wccaraudio.com/ Subscribe to My Youtube Channel! Over 1,000,000 subscribers strong! meade916
Another shot of the custom screws. 2 is better then one i always say. And we got half RF 16ga and half purple Lightning audio 12ga. SWEET! I will replace this shitty wire with brand new RF 12ga speaker wire. I think this trim ring is an anti theft device.....you could lose a fucking finger trying to steal these. Time to pull off the rear deck and see what is going on under it. Nice job sealing off the hole...with GOD DAMN CHIP BOARD, BUTYL SEALANT, and about 50 screws. NICE! Just when you think the chipboard gap filler was bad, wait till you see what they were covering up. I can't believe they did this. How much bass you think this was keeping out of the trunk? NONE. meade916
I don't always isolate my cabin from the trunk, but when i do, i use cardboard (chip board) LOL This green shit was driving me nuts so i ripped it off. Already looks 1,000,300 x better. new, MATCHING 12ga Rockford Fosgate speaker wire. I WILL be replacing the old, thin plexi window with something thick enough to handle it....but for NOW, just to hear it and see if it sounds good, i am sealing it off with a piece of wood. If i like how it sounds, i will put plexi over the hole. again, this is just for test purposes so i can see if the box is savable....and IT IS. Sounds pretty good, i think. I gotta finish isolating the cabin first though cuz it RATTLES BAD. All SMD products + MORE available at my store here! https://wccaraudio.com/ Subscribe to My Youtube Channel! meade916
Ok, i admit, this rear deck is so bad, i was just going to repair it with some 24ga GSM, and cover these speakers up.....but i couldn't do it. Don't be a lazy motherfucker i told myself and then out they had to come. Look at the hole it makes haha.....at least i am going to fix it. Did i mention, they are BOTH broken? Fucking BUTCHERS!!!! And yes, i am using the F word more then normal...these pics are blowing my mind. Time to rebuild the rear deck and replace some lost metal. Here is some 24ga GSM. I plan on making the deck new again and then covering it in Second Skin. All SMD products + MORE available at my store here! https://wccaraudio.com/ Subscribe to My Youtube Channel! meade916
This will be attached with fasteners every 4" or so around the port and all around the deck, wherever i can grab the old metal, whatever is left to grab LOL....and then covered in Second Skin. Ok i forgot to take pics of the fasteners holding this in, but it is now permanent. And looks, works much better. The sheet metal is attached at all points around the deck and also into the port flange so bass cannot do anything except go in the cabin, and STAY there. Ok that is it for tonight. Tomorrow i plan on pulling the ugly old carpet out, putting Second Skin on the floor, and then putting in the new carpet we got last week. stay tuned for updates! This should get better, soon, i hope!
