need help with slot port

Recommended Posts

Hey guys i am trying to build a box for either 2 skar zvx 12s orr 15s (havent decided on what ones i want but id rather have the 15s). But i cant figure out this slot port. Im using torres's box calc and if anyone could help for either set of subs i would really REALLY appreciate it.

My max dimensions are 20H, 50W, and 15D, and i am looking to tune around 28 hz, and looking to stay between 10-14 sq^2 per ft^3.

Displacement for the 12's would be .24 and the 15s is .3

I really appreciate any help. Thank you.

Hope I'm not asking for too much of a favor.

Edit: i guess mainly im looking to know the dimensions for the 2 pieces that make up the l of the port.

subs up and port across the bottom into the drivers side pillar.

- 3/4" wood, double top baffle for subs

- 4.1 cubes @ 31.8 hz (28 is pretty low for daily) with 14.7 sq in of port per cube

box: 40w 19.25h 15d (5.61 cubes gross)

port: 13.5w 4.5h 33d (displacement of 1.24 cubes)

subs: displacement of .24 cubes

5.61 minus 1.24 = 4.34

4.34 minus .24 = 4.1 (4.1 is your net volume)

the box is only 19.25h because of the double baffle which will make it a total of 20h, and the box is only 40w leaving 10" of space between the port and side of truck for the port to breath.

thanks man. so i guess my next question, assuming the port has 3 common walls, all i need to do is take a board that would be 13.5w and 33 long and make it 4.5in off that bottom of the box? if i understood you correctly. sorry this is my first slot port build. lol

correct, you would leave 4.5" between the bottom of the box and the piece of wood that makes the port, leaving you with a opening that is 13.5 x 4.5
