Rection Posted June 2, 2013 Report Share Posted June 2, 2013 those pressure treated studs contain alot of moisture, so it doesnt bond with conventional adhesives, and you would have to use galvanized screws because normal screws would corrode in it. that oak dowel is harder and stronger than poplar, but will split easier than poplar. long story short, your gonna need to drop that dowel idea if you want something that is actually gonna hold up. everytime i see 1 1/2 inch wooden dowel in a box i shake my head and laugh.
