IF you manage to find one thats straight, its gonna split when you put a screw in it. hardwood dowels are garbage in boxes. put a screw in it and it splits. if you predrill it and manage to get a screw in it without splitting it, the thing is still gonna flex because it poplar, which is a very weak wood. i have been a cabinet maker for 15 years, i know hardwoods.
