Lonnie West Posted August 16, 2013 Report Posted August 16, 2013 Well Im upgrading my alternator from the stock 117amp. to a new 250amp. I have the big three done with all 1 gauge wire. I have the stock battery and two new big deep cycle batteries that I put close to the amps in the back. My vehicle is a 98 dodge ram ext. cab. Im running a ddm2b at .25 ohm's before box rise on two hdc3 12's dual 1 ohm subs. My new alternator is on it's way. Should I be good to go on my electrical? is there any ideas on what else I can do? My system sounds great hits pretty hard. But after about 5 min. of knocking it, my voltage starts to drop pretty good. hopefully my 250 amp alt will help with that. I know some of you will say I should run the amp at 1 ohm. But it's not very loud and the subs seem to be starving for power at only 1 ohm. The amp comes alive at .25 ohms and the subs are banging. 2001,2002,2003 USACI World Finalist. 3rd. place ss 301-600 2003 USACI World Record Holder SS 301-600 Out for 10yrs. Finally getting back in the game. 2-ddm2b's on 2 HDC3 12's. 147.8db for now on TL. 250amp alt. 4 deep cycle batts. 2 runs of 1 gauge. 98' dodge ram. Soon to be advance no wall class. Or ss class.

Dd9515 king Posted August 17, 2013 Report Posted August 17, 2013 What type of batt is your front? Idk if its true but most say. Having a wet cell and dry together will hurt you.

I got my new alt in today and did alittle testing. at idle and knocking it hard for 20 secs. my voltage only dropped down from 13.8 to 13.0 compared to stock 13.6 to 11.0v drop. And at 2k rpm's. drop with new alt was 14.2 to 13.6 after 20secs of knocking it hard. from before with stock alt. which was a 13.6 start dropping to 12.0 volts. so it seems to be doing the job. thanks for the help guys. 2001,2002,2003 USACI World Finalist. 3rd. place ss 301-600 2003 USACI World Record Holder SS 301-600 Out for 10yrs.
