Remote wire, amp, and headunit help please

My system has been hooked up fine for about 1-2 months working fine. I went to the store and it was working all the way to the store, I shut my car off and when I came back it wasn't working. My amp wasn't powering up checked all the wires and they look fine, I trouble shooted and the problem is my head unit is not giving my amp a 12v signal through the remote wire. I left the remote wire connected to the head unit and put a jumper wire from the power to the remote and my amp turned on, I played my music and the subwoofer sounded shitty! It scared me and I got stumped, some 1 told me to use the red 12v for a signal on my head unit and another told me to put the remote wire to the battery instead of the head unit and neither turned the amp on, when I put the jumper on today I tried a different sub and it made the same shitty sound as my first sub did

Welcome to the forum Aaron!

As far as your remote wire......

What H.U. Do you have?

Do NOT connect your amps turn on lead to a constant power source. Your amp will not shut off.

Sounds like a short somewhere before your amp. Either within the H.U. Or a pinched turn on wire.

Yeah bro, the moderators don't like it when threads are started in the wrong area. There are tons of content areas around here, almost always one for your situation.

I was planning on getting a toggle switch if it would of worked, I tested my remote wire on my friends system and it powered his amp fine, my head unit is a Kenwood Kdc-148

Test the voltage of your turn on wire. And how did you test it in your friends system exactly?
