KIRK_ADAMS Posted October 7, 2013 Report Posted October 7, 2013 Im going to be helping a friend later, hook up an amp in his 2013 Chevy Silverado and was wondering if anyone here knows where the easiest place to hook up a remote wire for his amp is...? Thanx KirK
walwalka Posted October 7, 2013 Report Posted October 7, 2013 Assuming you are using the factory headunit, if you don't have a hi-lo with a remote out. I would take it right to the switched accessory on the ignition harness. Accessory 1 BROWN (+) IGNITION SWITCH HARNESS MAY BE YELLOW ON SOME MODELS 2010 Honda Civic LX / Deck: Kenwood DDX371 / Front Highs: Crescendo RTS-1 / Front Mids: Silver Flute 6.5's / 4 channel: DC Audio 90.4 / Sub: Fi 15in SP4v2 / Sub amp: Taramps HD 5000 / Power wire: Knukonceptz OFC 1/0 / Deadener: Audio Technix 60 mil / Batteries: XS Power D5100R / Rear bank: TBD / Alternator: Singer 240a hairpin
walwalka Posted October 7, 2013 Report Posted October 7, 2013 Remember always check with a DMM to verify what the wire is carrying. 2010 Honda Civic LX / Deck: Kenwood DDX371 / Front Highs: Crescendo RTS-1 / Front Mids: Silver Flute 6.5's / 4 channel: DC Audio 90.4 / Sub: Fi 15in SP4v2 / Sub amp: Taramps HD 5000 / Power wire: Knukonceptz OFC 1/0 / Deadener: Audio Technix 60 mil / Batteries: XS Power D5100R / Rear bank: TBD / Alternator: Singer 240a hairpin
nocturnalrites101 Posted October 7, 2013 Report Posted October 7, 2013 Brown or pink wire in the ignition harness, i usually use brown. pull down the under dash should be THREE 7 mm bolts followed by one 10 holding the hold release. The rest should be helped in by a few plastic clips. under that there is a metal shield held in by 4 10 mm bolts. lift up and pull threw with the metal shield. there you will find your wire. Which be heavy gauge. always check with your DDM to be sureignition will stay a constant 12 volt , accessory will drop out if you try to start it.
