kbreudi
Ok so im not trippin out or anything I always though it was the total "volume" of the port. So then would it be better to have a small and short port tuned to say 38 or a long and wide tuned to 38? Whats the real differance? kbreudi
x2thats why i asked everything question when making a box outside dimensions, desired volume, desired port surface area, sub, size, spl/sql/sq: each affects the box differently ive never used an mt but if i remember correctly they like bigger boxes unless ur giving them uber power since they are so stiff and have such a strong motor so is this box for music or to compete box will be bigger once i build one for both...like i said this is a cheap one day box build that i just want to throw my MT in for about a couple weeks untill i get the rest of the build started and figured out. In the end i will have about 5 cubes to each 15" MT after port and sub displacment and about 3000+ wrms Quote TEAM SUNDOWN 4 Nightshade 15"s 2 Sundown SAZ-4500 8 Deep Cycle batts 1998 Cadillac Catera SPLMAX CUP 2008 Fourth Place Overall
andym85
if your using MT's then you are gonna want a decent size port....like at least 12sq" per cubic foot...no more than 16sq"/cube port area varies for a lot of subs, some like larger ports (like DD says all of their subs like 16sq"/cube) and some subs like smaller ports (i cant remember which sub it was, but they only recommended like 9sq" for like a 2 cubic foot box)....i think it has to do with back pressure, but that is starting to get outside of my current realm of knowledge...
