This is so sick. Keep it up dude, I'm tuned in for sure. I'm currently walling my BMW 34 touring with four cheap DD redline 15"s just to get started. Always wanted to do that.

Im having all the crossovers at top of the door so making a frame that i can fibreglass into position then mount crossovers from behind.

ud9u.jpg

Routed the outside edge so the fibreglass will curve up onto it better.

bk87.jpg

s5wm.jpg

Cut the inside out making sure the crossovers still have enough lip over to mount securely.

tflw.jpg

Routed the inside but had a few mistakes it was hard trying to balance the router going round it.

cg3a0.jpg

Made from ply to try keep it as strong as i can.

7d5f.jpg

8 speaker rings needed each door so i screwed a speaker grill to some mdf and just used flush route bit to copy it.

tzht.jpg

Made 2 then was bored and gave up.

uwhk.jpg

Covered door ready to fibreglass then noticed a big fail in my plan.

The material i was stretching over the lot dont staple onto the mdf ive used round the outside as the steel angle behind stops it going in.

If i cant think of a way round this im just going to pay to get them done professionaly.

Driving around with just drivers window open lets the passenger door take all the punishment and has caused paint to come off door from flapping about.

rby6.jpg

Might have to put a strip of foam to stop any more damage.

xe69.jpg

Theres always good news to go with bad news.

Just got my 2 alternators with external reg so should now stay out of that 10v zone.

Thought i would see how hard to fit second alt in place of aircon so got straight in there and stripped down front of car.

gagf.jpg

Everything unbolted pretty easy.

geip.jpg

Was a bit more awkward getting belt off to get alt and aircon pump off.

p6tx.jpg

The alternator and aircon are on a bracket which bolts to the car.

m6om.jpg

Just need to modify bracket to fit alternator in aircon place as it bolts in a different way.

lmpd.jpg

Didnt manage to get bracket modified so left the car like this for tonight.

Started giving the engine bay a bit of a degrease and clean.

fq6c.jpg

Moved power cables to the side thought it might be better there.

hlab.jpg

Found out all the oil in my engine bay is leaking from the egr valve i blanked off.

n2mc.jpg

Thought i would give it a go myself making second alternator fit.

All i had lying around was some 1"x1" steel angle and some odd bolts.

dt2vs.jpg

Fits in place nicely.

trxt.jpg

vnnm.jpg

Got nothing supporting that corner so hopefully it dont twist.

ycbg.jpg

Time to fit them.

tj23.jpg

They fitted too easy standard belt fit aswel.

2ltkh.jpg

Continued to put some of the car back together.

5d4z.jpg

Heres the problem the radiator dont go all the way back where it should.

4k9bc.jpg

Just need to trim radiator bracket slightly and put it in before alternator and it should fit.

Bit of trimming and radiator fits. Its touching the alternator but it fits!

qsds.jpg

Starting to look like a car again, need to sort out wiring and where to mount external reg next.

I would have atleast gotten some kind of bracket to the open mount on that alt. Looks like a nightmare to add a second alt to that car. Are you doing all of this without a welder?

yeah all without a welder. I did take it to a shop to get the bracket done properly but they was too busy thats why i tried myself.

Ill have to see how it copes once i get the car running again and if need be have to take it back off and get a stronger bracket welded.

Already thinking about how to move radiator and intercooler forward to maybe fit a third alternator.

At this level of installation I would highly advise you pick up a little Lincoln welder. Would work well on your small bracketry and thin sheet metal. You should be able to get a small welder and a 220 plug on your house for ~$300. Worth its weight in gold if you ask me. And anybody can learn to mig weld. Anyway, proceed with the craziness.

Not much is happening at the moment as im having problems with the car.

Both alternators wired up up and external reg set at 14.7v

Had to change radiator as i got water leak from cutting bracket i caught radiator aswel.

New problem is the revs keep dropping when i start bassing.

Without me keeping the revs up the car stalls on idle.

Even with me revving they still drop alot when bass kicks in.

Turned it up full volume so see how well duel alternators cope and they popped 3x 200a fuses.

Time to change them to 300a fuses.

a2c68f.jpg

Forgot to tape up my ratchet and ended up melting the end of it.

934d5a.jpg

The cars having hot start problems aswel which i believe is caused by a dodgy crank angle sensor which also maybe causing my revs to go up and down so much.
