Dual Alt or Step-down module

Foreground info: So I've got a 2001 Ford Taurus. Right now I'm on stock alt with a b2 zero.5. Eventually next spring I plan to have 2 b2 zero.5's wired to .5 each at 16v. I know my options are either (A) Run a dual-alt setup if I can make them fit. One at 12v one at 16v. (B) Run a single 16v alt with a step-down module. © Run the amplifiers at 12v. And therein lies my questions....

(A) Would I even have room for dual alts? I'm fine sacrificing pretty much anything EXCEPT my heater. I live in ND and it's below freezing here already. Heater is a necessity.

If the answer to (A) is No, then on to....

(B) Is a step-down module reliable? I heard they're not. but then again, that's from a guy that's been out of the game for quite a while that's only ever run 12v.

© Is there any downsides to running 16v?

Any and all info/help is much appreciated. Just trying to figure everything out over the winter months so I can do some damage in the spring.

have you looked into the kinetik 16v battery? they have 2 post. 1 for 16 volts and the other for 12 volts.. maybe you dont need a step-down with that battery.. just get the alt to charge at 18.3 and use the 12v side for the car and 12v system

Just browsing kinetik stuff and came upon this sentence... "In addition to 12V models, there's a 16V/12V combo with a 3-post dual output to eliminate the need for a 12V step-down converter." so in theory, that'd work. However... I hear a bit about the 12/16v model swelling possibly due to not being able to keep up to the 12v load. So would a setup like so work...

16v alternator to kinetik 12/16v batt up front.

From kinetik 12v side to 12v yellow-top in the back.

From kinetik 16v side to xs XP1000 bank in back.

And would I need isolators anywhere?
