need help please

hi all I am somewhat new to car audio, well the hole amp side of it. my question is can I use a sony xplod 1000 watt amp 2/1 channel XM-FTX1852 with a dual 12in sub 300rms/500peak single 4 ohm. it is all walmart bought, gift from my grandma. i was told that if i just keep my power turned down on amp i could use it. and one more thing is it true you can use an amp to power 6x9?

I haven't been able to google the specs on that amp but I'm sure you could. Just make sure you have a clean signal and you may have to keep the gain down some depending on how much power it puts out. Yes you can a amp to power any speaker. You can use a amp to power the stock speakers in your car. Not saying I would by any means because you would blow them more than likely but you just need to make sure the speaker can handle the watts given to them and also make sure the amp can handle the ohm load you put on it.

you can use an amp to power any type of speaker. tweeters, midranges, midbass, subs.

heres how you're going to wire that sub up to your amp.

turn the LPF switch to ON and heres how you have to wire the sub to the amp (note the specific terminals)

edit: yes you can use a Y splitter to give the headunits signal to two amps.
