Hey guys, im about to tear down my current install and start a build in my 98 ext cab ranger for 4 sa 10s, i'm not looking for an spl box, i want clarity but i want lows, i'm a huge fan of 26-33hz area. In all of my previous builds, i've done simple boxes subs forward port up, which has worked well for all but the last build of 4 t1 12s (i can post vids), im getting way to much pressure on the back glass. I've seen people online doing subs forward port forward alot, especially with aero ports, but never heard one in person, anybody have any experience with these? I guess my main concern is will i still get a good load? Not looking to build a wall. Trying to keep it window line.

Cant say about subs forward port up but had a GMC Sierra with two 15 Obsidians and had the subs up and port forward. Of course this was just thrown on the back seat. I had a ranger with 3 JL 10w6s back in the day and they were all up but sealed and worked great for me.

The 4 t1 12s were all forward with two 6" aeros up, sounded great, did a 147 @ 29hz on a dc 3.5k on the dash, but couldnt keep a back window in it becauze the slider window kept shattering, i really need to invest in a solid back glass. But my theory is if i could get the same ballpark outcome subs forward, building pressure with just the box wouldn't it removed a majority of that pressure off my back glass?

I could be wrong on this but pressure with the subs up is going to be the same pressure with the subs forward. pressure is still pressure. It will try to escape the easiest way it can so it may be the back window. You may be able to seal the back window also to where it is more permanant. of course being a small section it will still not have the strentgh as a full window.

From my understanding, the pressure built is from the loading of the ports off the cieling,

Idk, im so lost on what to do. There's a dude on youtube with a ranger and two dc level 4 15s forward with 4 4" aeros and he's doing small hairtricks. Sounds decent on the camera i guess, but i've never seen a box below the window line like his with everything forward. Maybe i should try contacting him lol

personally i would go with trial and error. Every vehicle is different to some extent and what works great in ones may not work the same in yours.

I feel ya. I have a box built in my trailblazer right now, all amps hooked up and dont even have my subs yet. My luck I'll get them next month and have to do another box. just part of the game i guess. I dont have as much experience as some so i tend to redo things a few times before i get it right. Good thing the wife doesnt get too mad though lol
