Johnp71
So Im in the middle of my build, and I'm about to fuse my triple-input power/ground amp. Each 0 gauge power wire will have an inline fuse, 200A X 3= 600A total. What IF one of those fuses blew out while playing music, but the other 2 fuse are still fine. This means power is still running through the amplifier with an insufficient power supply.. only 2 inputs instead of 3 are working. Wouldn't I might burn my amp to crisp?? The manual is showing a different fused-power circuit than just an inline fuse to each +ve input. May be i'm confused!! Help me out guys. 2006 P71 270A Mechman alt. 2 XS power D3100's, 1 under the hood, one in the trunk. Jessica
i dont fuse between battery and amp. 2ft runs of 1/0. Cant really help you but i would say if one went, the other would probably follow right after. Odds are against that happening i would think Rest in peace, walled 87 accord build log 03' Corolla build with AA Mayhem inside. My super random youtube channel and terrible camera work. zayres29
the other fuses will shortly go too Btw that was the first person. Ever banned by me while dropping a deuce. Feel privileged
Johnp71
I would hope the other 2 blow immediately after the 1st zayres29, but you know how with some built-in fused amps, if one fuse blew, the amplifier would stop working, and you find the other fuses are still okay sometimes. I do too, I have almost 2' long power runs from battery to amp strangeduck! I'd like to not to fuse them, believe me, but I can't afford losing it right now. 2006 P71 270A Mechman alt. 2 XS power D3100's, 1 under the hood, one in the trunk. zayres29
the amp will try to start pulling the full 600a through the other runs thats why i said they wont last long just because every input isnt hooked up doesnt mean the amp doesnt still want 600a of current 300a through a 200a fuse will burn it Btw that was the first person. Jessica
This is my logic. If the fuse blows then there is already something wrong with the amp or you are running it below it's rated impedance or you are abusing it somehow. I only fuse to protect wire. Call me crazy. Nothing wrong with what you said at all. 2006 P71 270A Mechman alt. 2 XS power D3100's, 1 under the hood, one in the trunk. Jessica
youll be fine with three fuses, and fusing is fine for the run to the amp. I just don't do it. But i think a lot of people do. I'm just a misfit. Rest in peace, walled 87 accord build log 03' Corolla build with AA Mayhem inside. My super random youtube channel and terrible camera work. Johnp71
Fuse or not to fuse ... This was the most mind-numbing decision I had to make. I was kinda of embarrassed to fuse a 2 foot power wire, honestly. I don't trust my F@#king hand sometimes, that's the only reason I chose to fuse. 2006 P71 270A Mechman alt. 2 XS power D3100's, 1 under the hood, one in the trunk.
