DD-1 or decent Oscope In/Around St. Louis? Also a question...

I'm going to be installing my new system in a week or so. Looking for someone with the proper tuning tools since I don't trust the JBL GTO-series "EZ" tuning...

I have a conundrum though. Going to be factory integrating and all the sources (XM/AM/FM/Bluetooth/USB) have different output levels. IE: USB audio is quiet, switch to XM and the crap factory speakers are bottoming out hard. Using the factory EQ to balance output levels for now so at least there's no audible distortion.. My question:

I was just planning on just hooking up the RCA outputs from the Line-out converter to a DMM, and measuring peaks between the different sources, then use the stereo EQ to balance everything to the same output voltage. Are there any problems with this method? I know it doesn't detect distortion (thus why I want to DD-1 or scope using the USB source and balance everything based off of that) but would it be reasonable to expect it to be satisfactory to not clip my amp and blow my brand new SA-8?
