stock alt 2 batterys?

Im wondering whether a stock alternator would be able to handle hooking up an additional batt/powercell? Only reason i ask is that a couple of ppl on here , and a couple of ppl i know have told me that my cap is doing nothing for me, and that i should just hook up a powercell or second battery in the trunk and one of them even told me how to do it and claims that he had seen it done before. My current stock alt is only an 80 amp, and it will be awhile before i can afford a DC or singer alt.

You'll be fine running 2 batteries on the stock alternator(I ran 3 before lol), just invest in a charger, and charge at least every couple of weeks(or more depends on how quick you drain them from bass) doesn't need to be a fancy charger, I use a cheap Schumacher charger and it works great

Yes but charge your batt as much as you can. When I had my stock alt my car was on the charger every night. Now that I have my singer alt I top my batts off once a week or so.

In the car audio world a second battery is always a good idea. How ever you will eventually want to upgrade your alt. And unless your running a bank of caps, a single cap is pretty much useless.

And the bank of caps truth is referring to is Ultra caps, like banks of 100's or 1000's of farads, the cheap 5 farad cap isn't gonna do anything.

And my friend advises that instead of ground it to the frame/chassis, to instead run a second 0 gauge wire off the batt under the hood off of the negative.

The D1200 will perform better than the Yellow Top as a 2nd battery, and you can ground your battery to your frame, as long as the starter battery is grounded to the frame as well. Big 3 is another good idea as well

I'd only do the negative run if you have a uni-body car

Have done big 3 except 1 wire (waiting on more wire to come in mail) As for unibody i have no clue< its a 2000 honda accord ex sedan. Any idea how i can find that out? Sorry for being a newb.
