Aj11 Posted April 23, 2014 Report Posted April 23, 2014 well how much bass are you looking what is your budget and what amp do you have or looking to get? if you just want some good clean bass you can get a real nice 8 and throw it in a vented box. if your looking for some big sound your gonna give up room period! i haven't had trunk space in 5 years and i don't even realize it anymore. its overrated anyway jvc deck stinger 1800 front hc 2000 kinetic rear 2 runs of 1/0g big 3/4 ct 60.4 2 ct 1400.1 ct EXO 15 d1 lots of deadner type r comps front stage 6 kicker tweets rear stage lots of great stuff coming soon ho alt more bats ct comps for front stage more deadner sweet amp rack lots of L.E.D lights new deck (thinking 80 prs, or flip out)
pantstain Posted April 23, 2014 Author Report Posted April 23, 2014 I have a hifonics Zeus zrx 3000.1d amp. I want Sq more than anything. Don't care if ppl can hear me blocks away. Didn't want to do more than 200 a sub....which is why I'm leaning heavily on the new alpine SWR type r 12's. The ib setup really intrigues me....but of course nothing is set in stone as this stuff is gonna take me a while to purchase as I just got back to work after bein off 6 months from back surgery and am going through a divorce as well. Bleh.
Aj11 Posted April 23, 2014 Report Posted April 23, 2014 if you want sq the type r will do.nice but they need a low tune. 30hz is the max i would go. mine can play anything from decaf to sublime to tool to Elton John. it all sounds great! there are much better subs don't get me wrong but for your price range no not really. you need to figure out how much output and how space you want to give up. because 2 tens in a 4ft gross box would really thump! or 1 12 in a 3ft box. even 1 ten in 2ft would be pretty loud jvc deck stinger 1800 front hc 2000 kinetic rear 2 runs of 1/0g big 3/4 ct 60.4 2 ct 1400.1 ct EXO 15 d1 lots of deadner type r comps front stage 6 kicker tweets rear stage lots of great stuff coming soon ho alt more bats ct comps for front stage more deadner sweet amp rack lots of L.E.D lights new deck (thinking 80 prs, or flip out)

Aj11 Posted April 23, 2014 Report Posted April 23, 2014 do not i repeat do not put type rs in a sealed box! i did mine in a sealed box just to see. (i spend allot of time trying things out to see what works and what doesn't) they sound like shit dude! they are extremely punchy And you loose allot of output. they hit very very hard but you will have nothing below 40hz jvc deck stinger 1800 front hc 2000 kinetic rear 2 runs of 1/0g big 3/4 ct 60.4 2 ct 1400.1 ct EXO 15 d1 lots of deadner type r comps front stage 6 kicker tweets rear stage lots of great stuff coming soon ho alt more bats ct comps for front stage more deadner sweet amp rack lots of L.E.D lights new deck (thinking 80 prs, or flip out)
Aj11 Posted April 23, 2014 Report Posted April 23, 2014 and you can throw any hope of sq out the window. if you want sealed find a different sub. rs don't do well with sealed. i even tried putting a single 12 in a sealed 3ft box and still no low end. sum subs do great in sealed but there not one of them! jvc deck stinger 1800 front hc 2000 kinetic rear 2 runs of 1/0g big 3/4 ct 60.4 2 ct 1400.1 ct EXO 15 d1 lots of deadner type r comps front stage 6 kicker tweets rear stage lots of great stuff coming soon ho alt more bats ct comps for front stage more deadner sweet amp rack lots of L.E.D lights new deck (thinking 80 prs, or flip out)
Guest Posted April 23, 2014 Report Posted April 23, 2014 nobody reads my posts LOL. $250 for a 12" 2000rms woofer. 2.5 cube ported box. like 3.5 cubes gross. done. type r's like big boxes anyways. edit 2: one sub, $250. instead of two woofers for $400. leaves you money to buy supporting electrical shit.
Aj11 Posted April 23, 2014 Report Posted April 23, 2014 agreed, id look into the fi q, or the new ct strato v2 i know the ct subs are rated for 1000w but like the rest of there products they can take more. this is the way i look at man. you don't want to shell out a few hundred bucks on a system. spend a weekend installing and building your box. just to hook it up and want more! then your gonna be mad sell what you just bought and go bigger! I've done it... many times! hell I'm doing it right Now! what is your goal? if you give me a goal and what your looking to get from your set up i can help you allot more. if your Just looking to fill your sub stage and get some boom to even out your music... get a ten inch type r and put it a 1.5 box tuned to 33hz if you want bass that impress your friends and hurts a Lil get a fi q in 3ft gross box. 30hz if you want sq 37hz if you just want to be loud! if your dead set on not spending more then $150 on a sub get a alpine swd4 bridge down to 2ohm so your amp will match nicely put it in the biggest low tune box you can and call It a day! when i had my single r in a 2.5net box tuned to 42hz it hurt! it was on 2 jl 500/1 and it hurt at full tilt..after a full song it felt like someone punched me in the ear. (not to be that guy, but i had a louder system then any of my friends and guys at work. some of them had dual 12s dual 15s. givin they don't know shit they all had garbage amps and not one had a box that was meant for there subs... prefab smucks!) the low end was there a Lil because of the big box but I'm not kidding it hurt. i had everything filled with great stuff and deadner tho. what rms does you amp put out at 1 and 2ohm? jvc deck stinger 1800 front hc 2000 kinetic rear 2 runs of 1/0g big 3/4 ct 60.4 2 ct 1400.1 ct EXO 15 d1 lots of deadner type r comps front stage 6 kicker tweets rear stage lots of great stuff coming soon ho alt more bats ct comps for front stage more deadner sweet amp rack lots of L.E.D lights new deck (thinking 80 prs, or flip out)

Aj11 Posted April 24, 2014 Report Posted April 24, 2014 haha ok, so figure out how much space you want to give up. 2 r 12s in 6ft gross on your amp would rock your world! but if your getting 1500w rms i would get a dual 4ohm and run like that. it would be easier on your electrical to. my vote is single r at 2ohms in 2.5 tuned at 30hz if you wanted to put a lil money into the sub i highly recommend the ct strato v2 they are straight monsters! almost unbreakable! jvc deck stinger 1800 front hc 2000 kinetic rear 2 runs of 1/0g big 3/4 ct 60.4 2 ct 1400.1 ct EXO 15 d1 lots of deadner type r comps front stage 6 kicker tweets rear stage lots of great stuff coming soon ho alt more bats ct comps for front stage more deadner sweet amp rack lots of L.E.D lights new deck (thinking 80 prs, or flip out)
