X series sub recommendations (size and box)

Recommended Posts

I am not new to the audio scene but have not been in it in quite some time. I know technology has changed quite a bit since I was last in it. That being said in doing some research on a vehicle I am putting together I ran across Sundown. I found a semi local dealer and went to hear a demo. So the guy had a pair of X15s in a ported in closure. He was running about 3k watts. Sounded really good, and was hitting quite low. I was impressed.

That being said I think I am going to use Sundown as my subs and probably amps too as I like to coordinate. The problem is this is going into a Bagged 65 Suburban. Being that it is a classic I am wanting to be as stealthy as possible as I go to a lot of shows. I do not want to have the woofers exposed so I am looking for ideas. I am trying to avoid the subs facing the rear due to the fact that I am going to have enough of a hard time keeping the doors from rattling as it is so I am looking for ideas. I was thinking maybe a bandpass box.

This is not an SPL vehicle, I like a variety of genres of music, but when I want it to get down.... I want it to get down if you know what I mean.

Anyone have any experience with the X-15s in a bandpass enclosure? If I don't have enough room I could potentially drop down to 12's, just trying to get as much bang as I can while maintaining a clean look. I don't have dimensions of my workable area at the moment but I can get some measurements this weekend.

Any help appreciated.

Sundown will rattle your doors where ever you face them lol, especially if you are getting two subs hahaha. Though with good sound deadening material you could really reduce on the rattle. 2 15s will take up a lot more volume than 2 12s, depends on work space. On the bandpass issue, I have not yet seen any X-15 in those enclosures.. As for now we will all just wait for the dimensions as it will be difficult to advise without them.
