Next I started on the wire harness. There's a bolt that holds the main connector together.

10560275_587149918060809_861730393904837

Pulled the distributor cap.

Then the cap base. Also the air something or other clip there in the middle, I can't ever remember what that thing is called. It needs to be replaced though.

This hose needs to come off and here's a closer look at that air thing. Also the throttle positioning sensor (part with the red oval thing on the right) gets unplugged.

Then unplug this sensor, can't remember what it's called but it's right behind the distributor on the intake manifold.

Remove these vacuum hoses on the tree back there. Also the single wire there right behind the distributor.

10446096_587150048060796_288732429358852

Hose off the fuel regulator.

10582831_587150338060767_110876540442383

Not sure what exactly this is but it leads to the emissions/smog stuff. That tube comes off.

10548907_587150348060766_826112829152684

You can see around the black gasket, there are 4 bolts for the throttle body. Throttle body removed.

10515192_587150381394096_628654550582203

Now let's remove the main harness. Starting with the fuel injectors.

10623739_587150414727426_817446125176236

There are a few nuts around the intake manifold holding the harness bracket on.

10533834_587150471394087_313463188559693

4 nuts from that bracketing.

10562724_587150481394086_670442669009318

Deep in the depths, another wire to remove.

10580796_587150548060746_756072845578148

And boom, harness removed.

10428295_587150571394077_863563359467772

This is the neck that holds the thermostat in. Looks pretty bad. That's gonna get replaced.

10551700_587150614727406_198608280479523

Next remove these hoses.

10608730_587150651394069_258429556631878

Next I worked on the fan shroud and the hard line running along the top. There are two bolts on the top, under the black tabs of the hard line.

10560424_587150688060732_677003539145971

Time to remove the fan. There's 4 bolts there.

There's a bolt hiding under there. This is from under the truck, where the alt bracket was but you can't see this behind the smog pump.

10622787_587150938060707_173579728805001

I ended up cutting these two hoses off, they'll get replaced.

10372828_587150958060705_728937403965740

Smog pump gone.

10493073_587150964727371_240412203205693

Pull the fan pulley off, it's loose from when the fan bolts were removed.

10465471_587150994727368_285723530095276

10333455_587151008060700_899732078533448

Remove the tensioner and I may replace this also.

1973946_587151018060699_2647292080980671

Start removing the AC pump. Make sure you have your system discharged before you start working on all this. Otherwise you're screwed. Well not really but you know what I mean. 4 bolts to remove this.

Next up is the power steering pump. This is getting replaced as well. I have one, have had it for awhile. This was some aftermarket one, and it's fine, works great but it's loud and whiny as hell sometimes. So that's going, and this is as good a time as any.

10272526_587151084727359_608276761438665

Pull these hoses. If you can remove all the fluid you can before doing this, or it's gonna be a huge mess.

1889049_587151104727357_6155112417863064

out

10495009_587151131394021_791484789533378

Lower radiator hose. This was replaced when I removed and did the oil cooler delete mod.

10557544_587151151394019_156052894659568

You can see the big mess under there.

10560477_587151174727350_247184027920071

Should've taken pics of the water pump removal, but I got wrapped up in the bolts and stuff. All the bolts need replacing.

10582928_587151208060680_667745015284053

This is what it looks like under it. Not good. See all that rust. Yuck!

10553838_587151228060678_331342764027727

Looks pretty dirty to me.

At this point I decided to pull the front of the truck. I wanted to replace the radiator, ac cooler, transmission cooler, and add a new oil cooler as well. So Why not.

Remove these screws on top of the headlight frames.
