BIG 3 Question

Reading the Big 3 tutorial thread I see that it says to upgrade the following wires...

- Positive from battery to positive from alternator
- Negative from battery to ground
- Engine block to ground

My '11 Silverado has a factory 4AWG cable going from the battery's negative to the engine block. I've already added the wire from the battery's negative to ground. What point would there be in running another wire from the engine block to ground when it already has a direct path back to the battery's negative?

The more cables the more current flow. And since your stock cables are 4 gauge, you could do 1/0 gauge for the big 3.

I still don't see the need for it.

less resistance.

literally why the big 3 is so important. decreases resistance, even if it is by a minute amount.

I get the lower resistance thing but the way I see it the resistance between the block to battery connection is going to be less than the resistance between the block to ground to battery connection. In my truck ('11 Silverado) the cable run from the block to battery is shorter than the run would be between the block to ground to battery. And as we all know current will follow the path of least resistance. So if all the cabling is the same AWG the least resistance between the block and battery will be found in the shortest run of wire. In my case that would be the block's direct connection to the battery making the block to ground cable run redundant, right?
