Cj Kumz Posted June 14, 2014 Report Posted June 14, 2014 Hey people can someone please tell me if lower sub VAS means smaller boxes? I know more parameters should be considered but just a general explaination would do Vw Polo Pioneer Deh-6050UB Sundown Saz-3500d DD Audio 9500 15'' 5.5 cubic feet box with 10 inch port @ 38hz I live to hear the Bass drop!!!
Weigel21 Posted June 14, 2014 Report Posted June 14, 2014 Sort of. As you said yourself, there are other parameters/factors involved, but a lower VAS can suggest the driver is suitable for smaller enclosures. Not entirely sure how to explain something I myself don't fully understand. Not sure if this explains or confuses, but here's what wiki has on VAS. Vas Measured in litres (L) or cubic metres, is a measure of the 'stiffness' of the suspension with the driver mounted in free air. It represents the volume of air that has the same stiffness as the driver's suspension when acted on by a piston of the same area (Sd) as the cone. Larger values mean lower stiffness, and generally require larger enclosures. Vas varies with the square of the diameter. A typical factory tolerance for Vas spec is ±20–30%.
Cj Kumz Posted June 14, 2014 Author Report Posted June 14, 2014 Thanks a lot. Got a 15'' sub with 48L/1.68ft3 and just trying to understand this VAS issue. Yah makes sense over the stiffness though Vw Polo Pioneer Deh-6050UB Sundown Saz-3500d DD Audio 9500 15'' 5.5 cubic feet box with 10 inch port @ 38hz I live to hear the Bass drop!!!
Weigel21 Posted June 15, 2014 Report Posted June 15, 2014 You ever thought to download WinISD and plug in the driver's Parameters? Heck, if you list the model of the sub you have, someone on here may very well have had experience with it and could offer up some words of advice.
