Guest Nismofreak Posted March 23, 2008 Report Posted March 23, 2008 I need help with the port for this box. Wanted to do swappable ports and one 45hz and one 35hz. The dimensions of the box is 15 h x 39l s w 21. PLEASE HELP ME!!! I suck at boxes

Forevrbumpn Posted March 24, 2008 Report Posted March 24, 2008 I honestly would not do something like 35hz and 45hz, kind of a waste... Only reason I say that is because there is interior cancelation do to internal air space of vehicle If the cars Resonance was like 30hz, and you wanna do another port for SPL you would really want to jump up 1 octave, or the 45hz port would be kinda pointless do to the cancelation. Basically if cabin gain is 30hz, it will gain at every octave over that, 30-60-120, ect going right there between the octave will cause a slight cancelation, maybe nothing as big as 10db, but something more like 1.5-3db A really simple way to find the cabin gain of the vehicle is measure from front windshield, to port location in the back or just to back window, and use the 1/4 wave math to find out what cabin gain is... Iam assuming it would be about 30-32hz if you have the SUV I think you have.... This will be pretty Accurate if you measure with a flat sounding sealed box, throw it in your SUV, and do a sine sweep with a mic/termpro, or any other spectrum analyzer- You will see a peak at cabin resonance, and every octave above that I have a ritual called "terminator". I crouch in the shower in the "naked terminator" pose. With eyes closed I crouch for a minute and visualize either Arnie or the guy from the 2nd movie. I then start to hum the T2 theme. Slowly I rise to a standing position and open my eyes. It helps me get through my day. The only problem is if the shower curtain sticks to my terminator leg. It sorta ruins the fantasy.
