noobslayer77
What are some of the effects of adding sound deadener? Does it increase SPL and sound quality? if so, Is it a noticeable difference? Or is it primarily to reduce rattling. I don't have a lot of rattles, just my side mirrors and trunk window. 2004 Jeep Liberty Limited 2 13w7s skar 3500 cnf mids (soon) xs batteries
Weigel21
Sound deadening can reduce rattles and any panel vibrations as well as reduce perceived outside noise such as tire noise, wind noise,engine/exhaust noise which in turn can increase SPL and improve SQ. Just using a foil backed deadening material like Damplifier or Dynamate can reduce panel vibration, but without deadening in layers, by which I mean using mass loaded vinyl as well, you can reduce if not block these outside noises. The downside to deadening, it adds extra weight (sometimes a couple hundred pounds), which can cost you 1-2MPG.
