REH Posted August 20, 2014 Report Posted August 20, 2014 What the hell? "Just starting" off in car audio and wants to go with (2) HDC4 18's and (2) 3500's, Multiple alt setup, and 6 batteries? Something is not right here... OP, do you have any idea what kind of performance you'll be getting with this? This is nowhere near a beginner, or even intermediate setup.. especially to just be starting out with.
BigBirdy Posted August 20, 2014 Author Report Posted August 20, 2014 If you don't know a whole lot, I don't know if 2 80lbs 18's on 8600w rms would be a good idea.... for the sake of not toasting new expensive equipment. But, if you want to do it.... 1. Subs do no "run" at any load, amplifiers do. The SQ HDC4's only come with Dual 1 ohm voice coils, so each sub CAN be wired do either .5 ohm, or 2 ohms. This means with 2 HDC4's, you can wire to 1 ohm. 2. For electrical, I would suggest dual 250a+ alternators, and about 4-6 group 31 AGM batteries, and a bunch of 1/0 cable 3. The SQ3500.1 is a 4300w amp, so yes, you will get 3500w at 14v 4. You can't wire a dual 1 ohm sub to 1 ohm. 5. You don't "work" your amp at 1 ohm.... that doesn't even make sense With what you are going for, you are going to have to run each amp at .5 ohms, or go with an amplifier that does 7000-8000w @ 1 ohm, which is what I would suggest for simplicity. Honestly, it sounds like you don't have a grasp on the basics and you are about to drop close to 6 thousand or so once it is said and done to run this equipment properly... 880 in subs 1600 in amps 1800 in batteries 800 in alternators (not including bracket) 600 in wire (positive runs, jumpers, grounds, amplifier wires... etc.) 5680 bucks, and this doesnt include the cost of building a box, and then most likely needing to upgrade the front stage as well to keep up..... see what im getting at.... Thank you so much for the info man. I really appreciate it. I have the money for it as well as my father that's been in the buisness for about 20 years and he know what's up, do with his hand I can get by things. I have heard that the hdc4 series can handle up to 4k rms but you are the expert here so I'll probobly downsize the amps to 2200.1s. Thanks for the help and if you have any other tips it would most welcomed by me. Thank you and I appreciate it

Don't want to sound ignorant but I want very very loud. Plus I said I'm starting off in advanced audio. I had a couple systems before multiple in car, and biggest one in my gameroom, 4 18s and 2 12" horns.

Because this is well above and beyond the needs of someone just wanting to put together a reasonably loud setup in their daily driver. I'm just really curious as to why you're so set on this type of system, not being rude or anything... just really curious because like I said, this is in no way the average street beat.

It's just ever since I've been small nothing had too much bass in it. I've listened to some ok systems but it's just never enough. What I want to do is something like a competition setup, but not exactly. I would of course love to compete because I think bass is just something that I would never get tired of. I'm sure you guys know of this feeling the very first time you heard a system. I feel like this is gonna be a hobby that stays by my side for the rest of my life, this is why I want the system, because I love bass, and every part of it. This might be loud enough bass to win locales, only because I come from an area where not many people enjoy this stuff, many think its a nuisance. I wanna stick out from the rest lol
