UKSQguy Posted August 21, 2014 Report Posted August 21, 2014 I see the term supercaps/capacitors etc throw around on the forum and in builds, but here in the UK we don't use them. Mention a cap to an audiophile or basshead over here and we think of the little 1 farad wastes of time people are mainly duped into buying. What i'd like to know is why they are used, what the rules are when using them, what situations they should be used in. For example a vehicle with a smallish alt and 2 batteries - woud caps be a good idea or would money be better spent on 2nd alts + more batteries. Anything useful will be a great help. Thanks in advance Gav
SlamminBeats Posted August 21, 2014 Report Posted August 21, 2014 super caps over batts no matter how big the system, assuming more power is required. 6 caps is a bank chargeable up to 16.2 volts (Safely) and will be 500 farads Alternators are always very important and i still put them above caps. I have 3 banks for sale
