I have a 2012 Focus SE Hatchback. Currently have a JVC double din touchscreen head unit. Power Acoustik Reaper series 6000.1 sub amp. My factory alternator is 150 amp. 1/0 running from the front to my hatch area. Two powersports group 20 AGM batteries on the front of my box. And two RF P3D2-12s in a custom box. The entire box, including baffle, is double layer 3/4" MDF bottom firing, 1.88 cu ft per sub.

I like the subs but the subs don't love the box. I'm ready for more. My stereo guy will pull the box and open it up for two Power series RF 15s for 600 parts and labor. I'm just not sure I want to go 15. I think I would prefer a better pair of 12s. Ive read through post after post, page after page, and most of what I'm finding doesnt like my box. Either it wants to be ported, or wants a box that's half the size.

So I'm looking for advice on 12" subs for +/- 325.00 each that will want a sealed, 1.88 cu ft box. Or am I going to have to go to 15s.

To finish the system I also have the matching Reaper series 1200.4 and Fosgate 6.5" components in the front doors, and coaxials in the rear doors.

Thanks in advance for any advice. Its making my head hurt and all the specs are starting to blur.

Sounds like you just need to port the 12"s. depending on how much room you're willing to give up in the hatchback you should be able to fit a decent sized ported box in there; you're already close to the right size I'm willing to bet. If possible maybe try different box orientations with your current setup, subs facing rear, sub facing forward, and subs facing up if no gain or you still want more then build a ported box. will be cheaper than 600 for subs and someone cutting the sub hole out bigger...

I'm already giving up my entire hatch area. Side to side front to back. You can't fit a 6 pack back there. The box is very well constructed, very strong, and painted black so if you look through my back window you don't realize you're looking at anything worth breaking into my car for. I'll post a picture when I get home from work, not driving it today.

I know ported would probably be easier, but I've always gone sealed because I want my 12s to keep up with fast bass and be flatter in response, not huge at a certain frequency but fall off all around it.

I appreciate all constructive input, but I would really like to find 12s that will fit my application. And I think my budget is realistic/ reasonable. I already have a repurpose for my P3s so they will not become baggage.

you give to much info in your posts that isnt needed. just stick to talking about the subs and box for now.

if your not trying to get louder, i dont see the problem? build a different sealed box? nobody will truly know what will work better. you need to build and test.
